People will still find a problem with this, file multiple FRs and complain endlessly.
And there is the key difference between me and them. I'm already turning knobs and pressing buttons, making the best music I can given the tools at hand. :)

Thanks for the feedback. But.. this is INSANE !

I would rather not deal with un-installing then Installing, then updating Cubase 7 just because Steinberg screwed up big time. They need to fix it on their end.

Hope they post a fix-patch to this update ASAP.

Cheers,
Muziksculp
A similar thing happened to me with the last update, there was no patch and they are not going to produce a patch when all you have to do is re-install the thing.

I also had to delete certain preference folders.

Hi,

Does the un-Install automatically trash the preferences as well . or Do I need to manually trash my current preferences ?

Will my preferences be rebuilt again when I re-install (provided I did not delete the pref.) ?

Any feedback on this would be helpful.

Thanks,
Muziksculp

Updated from 7.0.5 to 7.0.6 and here is what I get :

My Inserts window show only a blank black window

The Panners in the Mix-Console look like little square dots

Steinberg please post a update that fixes this version.

Cubase 7.0.6 is totally not usable at this time for me. :x

Here are two pics to show you what I'm talking about :

Good reason for me NOT to install 7.06. The way I've got it running now could best be described as "precariously stable". I do not need more headaches.

My Cubase/Windows tip of the week - Run Cubase as administrator. Always. It's a pain in the ass to remember, but prior to this week (and since my phone consultation with the American Steinberg tech) Cubase refused to shut down most of the time and I had to close it out from the Windows Task Manager. And I've had no mysterious crashes so far this week - I've had an un-mysterious crash, but nothing too weird...

Why does this work? I don't know. I'm trying EVERYTHING.

Running as Admin introduces it's own can of worms.
Just read up on the IK Multimedia dilemma and preset handling.

running as admin is okay if your DAW isn't online. ofcourse you can't use their CustomShit then but thats not my problem.

It's not just IKM. A lot of tools' presets and settings are installed in the user account you install the software to.

In my case, that'd be "Studio".

Now, if I'd run the program as admin, it won't see the presets for this particular VST/VSTi. Especially not if you made your own presets.

This is a severe issue to consider. And a lot of devs know about this. Actually, one developer told me (during beta testing) that this issue is bound to a compiler issue for Windows. So if you don't stay up to date with that, chances are you won't be able to use the plugins you bought.

As in case of IKM: Wavelab needs to run as admin in order to "not be" in demo mode. IKM is aware of this, yet gives a sh*t.

I would contact the SB Rep. I had to delete them myself. I lost my preferences of course.

Press longer on the E button with the mouse, then it should pop up.
Oh, I should have known that, of course, how stupid of me...:x
I guess with the new mixer, it's the first time one really has to read a complete chapter of the documentation to get along. Never needed that before.
Well, so far I have no serious problems in 7.0.6, but then I mostly loaded old projects and fiddled around a bit.
I think one can get used to the new mixer, it's not as if the old one hadn't had some deficiencies. Still, it looked way better and was more intuitive by lengths. And sadly the most annoying limitations of the old mixer weren't resolved (or I haven't found them yet): Reorder Tracks in mixer view, more than 8 inserts anyone???
Have tried Studio One Pro today, but wasn't really overwhelmed, frankly. It is much better designed (as in: "get the work done fast", not: "look at me, I am shiny and flashy and when I grow up i want to be a website...") but seems to be way behind in features, especially MIDI- and audio editing, as far as i can see, and the "Reference Manual" is more like a tutorial for beginners. Clear point for Cubase here. Still, there are some ideas that I definitely want to see in Cubase.
Well, I think I'll buy the update to C7 while it's still at 229€ (on the streets). Annoyed as hell and reluctantly, though.

Hi,

Yes, I emailed SB tech. my system info. and additional details regarding the issues with 7.0.6 Hopefully they will help me sort this out. and get back on track on 7.0.6

I also wonder why re-installing 7.0.6 from 7.0.5 via the same (buggy-installer) will solve my issues ? Unless SB has fixed/improved the Installer in the last 48 hrs.

I feel their latest installer is to blame for all this chaos. They need to drastically improve the installer, and save us the wasted time, and headaches encountered just to update their app. a single notch.

Thanks,

As you can see from this thread there are lots of people with lots of problems! Welcome to Club Cubase?

I love the DAW though and I've had very little trouble fortunately.

Hi,

I love Cubase too. and had no issues with it, until this last update

I would like to know why some users are having issues with installing this update, while others don't. (What is causing the problem on different systems ? ) Maybe I will get some feedback from SBerg, about the cause of the issue. I will post that feedback here once I know what it is from SBerg. tech. Support.

Cheers,

TheoM wrote:Your best bet to get around the 8 insert limitations use big cat mb7 which will add another 4 plus multiband if desired. That's what I do but in reality it has been so rare to run out its 8, only when I have done the most ridiculously bizarre effect that required tons of plugins. However it is indeed weird that cubase has the very lowest number of insert slots available compared to any of the big boys but furthermore I think it has the lowest amount of insert slots period, of ANY daw. Such a requested feature to increase it and their stubbornness on the issue is quite bizarre. One thing I do love at least is that you get two post fader inserts, but then again if I'm doing gain staging with some other plugin early in the chain I'd also like the option of making these pre fader like the others and I am not sure it an be done. So in some cases its only really 6 useful insert lots. Weird. Actually no that I am using tape, Channel vu with gain and saturation or console type per channel there's three already.. Hmmmm.. Never thought of that.. When I used to use cubase these things didnt exist but are now part of my workflow. Yes ateinberg, more inserts please! Just double it, why not?
Yes the 8 inserts thing is odd but in reality I am usually able to do most all I need to with 8.

Another solution if you do run out is to just create a dedicated group track and send it to that. You then have a duplicate of the same track to deal with but I can usually manage just fine in that case too.
