So! downloaded and installed

Logic Pro X didn't authorize automatically... But by going into the AU manager and authorizing there (after a slight hiccup) all was fine.

I'm loving the sound so far... there's something about analogue synths where the sound seems to jump out of the speakers (sorry for the TERRIBLE description) and I'm hearing that same 'just in front of the speaker' energy coming from the XILS4.

There are only a few soft synths that have that in your face sound. Not to say that the majority of synths aren't fantastic sounding, just that that's a quality I miss in some hyped up reverb fx'd soft synths. I found the same difference when comparing a virtual analogue like the Novation Supernova and a real analogue synth like the MS20
both of which I have owned.

Anyway nice job XILS people.

Looking forward to what you are gonna do with Synthix... Er! It's now called SynX??? Do we have to update?
Edit: I read further... No! it's still called Synthix!!! Where's my safety blanket?

It will *probably* be Syn'X in the future ( evocative of Sync in a way )( Maybe different from Sin X, in two clearly separated words ?? )

Synth X is already taken iirc. Alternative/props/better names are welcomed ( Xynthix ? )

It's not a terrible description. Its the simple truth

imho : ( Vintage) Analog Synths did not pop out of the cosmos. Its a Darwinian process. There were other experimental instruments. There always are. But analog synths became incredibly popular and then refined because they had this simple beauty and vibe. People loved them, for what seems very good reasons.

Gentlemen, life is short, world is small, everything is tied, we are all connected, and the butterfly theory might be true : Sphynx is one of the possible names I found for ............. Xils-lab OXIUM ( And Oxium was initially OPIUM, like the French perfume, but we had to change it for ..... copyright reasons , wich basically are the same reasons to now change the name of the Synthix )

Seems a good idea at first sight I agrre, but Syntaxe is already taken ( was a kind of keytar in the 90s iirc ) and Syntax is even closer to the name that put us in trouble, so unfortunately not possible.

Another quick, naive, happy demo.

4/ Moonbeam

Moonbeam makes use, with no surprise, of my Moonbeam preset in the fact library. What is interesting with this preset, is that I could play simultaneously the bells broken arpeggio in the beginning AND the repeats wich made it continuous. This is possible because it uses the Trapezoidal LOOPING envelopes ( Yes Peter Zinoviev also invented the looping envelopes in the age of early analog )

With the Xils 4 and trapezoidal envelopes, you can use some new keyboard techniques, and play, and adapt to context in real time ( just adapt the decay for example to change loop speed ) some looped material, with the full analog vibe.

This definetely sounds a bit different than most of the other synths i've heard. I'm afraid to demo in case I like it too much, and buy it.

Syntax was also the name of one of the libraries from Vir2 for a number years. Although it doesn't seem to be featured as a product on the current site, it does still show up in the download section for support files, and it IS still being sold at Big Fish. Therefore I would stay away from that name.
