It's not, but you can use linn samples without any problem.

Hi budweiser, according to this post it's not sampled.....Very Cool!

But then again the LM-1 Drum Computer was the first drum machine to use digital samples of acoustic drums :D

You can create your own sounds by using this software, then load it into vLinn.

Yes Numanoid you are right, the LinnDrum had 15 drum sounds sampled from real drums :)

At the end of the day the vLinn is one very cool drum machine vst :D

Tried it for size. Did not like all the extra features (sample inport etc) that the original did not have. Very nice Vst, but just not for me. I would recommend it for those seeking the retro sounds though. :D :tu:

By the way - Why is Alphaville not mentioned in the user list on the product page (relating to the original model ?) it was put to very heavy use on our first Three albums and many B-sides. Plus the Art of Noise only ever sampled the sounds and did not use the machine. (Trevor Horn used one with Frankie goes to Hollywood and other Ztt artists)

Retro? It's classic! And classic never gets old!

Indeed it is a classic, and you are correct, classic doesn't age. I am not putting the Linn or the Vst emu down. I am just stating that the vLinn is not for me.

You can replace EPROMs (samples) on the original and also tweak the filters response and reading speed range, so what are the extra features are we talking about?

Yes you could indeed add your own samples, but these were only short (6 second max) mono samples and not a loop of a bass guitar or guitar riff.

The Linn 9000 was in my opinion far better.

VLINN is also limited in the same way :) max EPROM size is 32K which is the exact size of the optional Cymbal or Ride cards (which featured 8 * 4K (2732 type) EPROMS).
Total sample time is closely related to the recorded sample rate.
Still I do not understand why you are talking about Guitar & Bass riffs... or maybe you though that some of my demonstration vids featured guitar & bass samples?? If it is the case, I should precise that anything guitar/bass/keys were recorded live on top of the VLINN, this is not samples played by the VST (excepted one short orchestra hit from a Fairlight CMI bank in one video) :)

Perhaps that should be explained in the video

It seemed obvious to me, but if you made the mistake others might do too...
I will add info about that in my videos just in case
