so let me understand,
a new synapse synth would not get attention, and bring positive attention to Orion
(from audio web sites and from magazines) if it was an exclusive Orion synth?

you win

I thought Synapse was critically acclaimed, my bad.

at least his REs and synths sell, probably because of their impressive same-y-ness

Orion was the first 'virtual studio' that allowed you to run 3rd party
VST plugins using directX drivers with low (playable) latency on
consumer soundcards, at a time when cubase would give you 1/2 a
second or something latency -it came out shortly after arturia storm,
which quickly looked rubbish by comparison.

it was never really intended for audio recording, it was conceived
for MIDI freaks wanting to reproduce with a computer what you do
with a MIDI rig.

as for Reaper...'create a button to...'? ugh, how, why, what for?
no, i don't want to have to read the whole manual before i can use it.
never got anywhere wih Reaper: installed, looked, uninstalled.

mztk, I did not know all that,
thank you for making me like Orion even more

No. Bad business.

Put a new great synth inside a host that doesnt sell, or sell it as a vst.

No brainer really.

I'm going to miss Orion when it's gone. My faithful companion of the last 14 years or so. I wrote so much material with it, including whole albums.

But if and when I do migrate I know where I'm going. MuLab. Hard core Orionauts I urge you to give it a try. It's the only thing out there with a similar feel but also a little more advanced. :tu:

Thanks, will give mulab a try. Chaotic Daw also seems very similar to Orion, but it is a daw that has been discontinued.

Edit* Yes, a very nice daw like Orion! Cheers, thanks for the reference. I think I was put off last time about it being a modular daw, but nice to see that aspect can be hidden away, so to speak. Cheers

I'm confused because it seems like Orion 8.5 is for sale as an upgrade in my account, but there is zero information on the site about Orion v8.5.

.-.

Afaik Orion never was promoted after the development of Dune (which is promoted all over the place since 2011 FYI).
No wonder Mr. Synapse speaks of 'little interest' regarded to its possible users.
From their side. That is.
Live and let die, they must've thought...

I had a look.... within 5 minutes of DL i was creating a track. This was impossible with any of the other hosts i have tried in the last 10 years.

Thanks for the heads up. :tu:
