Or in case it doesn't work, try this

Had exactly the same issue 2 causes misdirection and user being an idiot (aka me)!

1) You have to change skin for global (I didn't realise there was preset and global skins)
2) Whilst I deleted the user config still had an issue. The idiot had historically copied the config files into the directory in the documents folder.

Solution Backed up all presets, cleaned/deleted all synthmaster folders and files.
Reinstalled.

Hope this helps.

3. Close and then reopen the skin
Before I asked I did a search and nothing came up. If that is indeed "the most common "Frequently Asked Question"" then perhaps you've got a UX issue on your hands. Also, I didn't choose the Player skin when I was changing skins. I chose SM-800X to see what it was like. Maybe there is a bug there as I just tried it again and I was able to reproduce the same behavior of going back to the Player skin.

Speaking of skins... I've got a touch screen and I really dig the XY pads, but developers always seem to make them super tiny. I get why, as you don't want to take up too much space especially for people who don't use them or use them with a mouse, but I think a lot of people might appreciate it if there was a way to "break out" the XY pad to a larger window.

None of my above suggestions helps?

I also had this issue with skins - if a skin having the layout other than the default one is selected, there is really no obvious way to go back. I remember that I changed some parameters manually in the config file and it worked, but i don't remember which ones.

SM-800X SKIN

Warning to all - That's the one that appears to be the toot cause if SM to goto player mode with the above issue.

Personally don't bother, it's beyond nasty :()

Please take a look at page 11 of user manual to resolve this issue:

Thanks

The answer would be to make the skin settings work the same in the player skin as they do in the full skins instead of hiding them away and making them so hard to find. It's the most frequently asked question because people are constantly getting caught out by this.

The most frequently asked question in our issue database.

Lesson learned. I've worked it out and it's all fine now, but there is for sure a bug with that skin, nasty or not.

Hello Bulent!

Ditto for me in the quote above. Please excuse the usual crowd of rude little boys here -- frustrated wannabees and musicians going nowhere who need to take their frustrations out on anyone who is successful.

Have a great time and experience in Boston! I lived there for a year, just down the street from Berklee (although I wasn't there to attend the school but to perform and enjoy the culture [and great food and restaurants!]). I trust you will like it there. This reminds me that I should visit the ol' 'Beantown' myself again soon.

Thanks for the update as well. Will check into this tonight. I have no real issues to report for using your synth. It's always been in my Top 3. Simply love it!

Best Wishes and Enjoyment in your new home,
Marla
Yep, Boston is a great place to get some good food. Except for Berklee's cafeteria; at least it was nasty when I was there (1976 - 1981). Hopefully it's improved since then. The education was top-notch, though.

What's your DAW? FLStudio ?

What's your audio interface? Focusrite variant ?

Try to set the sample rate to 48k, or turn on "use fixed size buffers" setting for the SynthMaster tracks on FLStudio.

I don't have any issues with Sonar X3 Producer.

Are there any issues with Focusrite audio interfaces? I was thinking of getting one of those.

Hi Rob,

They only allow you to set the ASIO buffer size in increments if milliseconds. I remember I had to set the sample rate to 48k to get a good performance with SM. But I'll work more on the "buffering" issues of SM while working for v3.0
