Theo, I agree Limitless is expensive and DMG's pricing is among the highest in the industry. I just wanted some clarification regarding the prior Distressor discussion, which you provided. The truth is, I own the EQ's and I'm glad I do (heck, EQuick was free), but I've passed on every DMG plugin since because I either didn't connect with it (like Compassion) or didn't bother to demo it because of a combination of having something similar already and/or the high cost. I will definitely demo Limitless, and hopefully I'll get an additional discount that knocks a few bucks off. I'm not sure I'll buy it though. As of late, I'm not working on music for anyone other than myself (don't know when I last actually exported a track from my DAW), so I really don't need a new mastering limiter even if I want this one.
EDIT: glad you're seeing the $172 intro price now.

I'm biased again and I know you don't want my opinions on limiters Theo (
) but this thing truly IS a game changer, in my opinion.

Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

honestly Theo, one supermarket I went in, bread was over 7 AUD! Perhaps a particularly expensive store, but the pound was really weak against the Aussie Dollar in 2013/2014.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that bread is hardly a luxury. Plugins are (at least for a non-pro, which was your point).
Your argument is complaining that a high end product is too expensive. So make do with a cheaper one! £120 for a mastering limiter really isn't remotely in the realms of being crazily expensive. I can name plenty of really shit overhyped plugins that are.
Perhaps you are basing everything on sale prices you've taken advantage of?
The IK master eq is way overpriced imo, has unnecessary limitations (stepped controls) and does less than a fraction of what Equilibrium can but is priced at £135 (275 AUD).
Now THAT is overpriced.
Yes, IK have sales, but it also means they retain a lot less value when resold. On top of that, their DSP isn't all that and their customer relations and marketing suck.
Sonnox limiter is old and distorts but is £171 WITH discount in Audio Deluxe.
Just thought it needed putting into perspective.
Cheers

This is hilarious!
Ok, I'll bite (insomnia so what the hey?)
Coffee here is around £2 (or £1.50 in a pub). That's a max of 4AUD. Where you got 10 from, I don't know. Maybe you stopped off to refuel in Dubai?!
I found cigarettes were double down under and beer vastly more expensive as well. I was travelling with a buddy and it was way more expensive than either of us were expecting and we're in probably the most expensive part of the UK (London and Brighton).
The pound used to be equal to nearly 3AUD in the old days, so there's nothing pompous whatsoever about stating simple exchange rates changing.
As for the IK deal, again, it was a sale and bought with credits (doesn't that make them nfr btw?).
Limitless is a brand new and high end product for professionals and is priced as such. It won't be on sale again so will retain a much higher price if sold on. Not having sales is actually good in that scenario.
Relax Theo, you're pretty close to name calling now and there's no need.
A developer is not going to rethink their entire business strategy or pricing structure just because one user decides to set him or herself an upper limit to spend per plugin.
I'll repeat it but this plugin replaced three plugins for me, one costing £115' another £84 and another £14. All three of these plugins were considered to be irreplaceable before the year started!
Time for bed!

I'd love to see limitless limit the noise floor in forums when it comes to discussion about its price tag.
theo, we all know that you have a price sensitive view of the market. that's fine, really. just rule out every plugin that you think is not affordable for you or doesn't make sense for that specific price, and that's it.
I mean, we're all over the australian bread market meanwhile. but this is about the release of a new effect plugin few of us have even met yet, and you already have your opinion set. demo it, and then make your choice. you can still leave it on the shelf if it's not the uber-plugin you want.
enough rant. whoever tested it - just tell me about what I would call the easy mode. I don't mind to dig deaper when I feel I have to, but first I would give the "as few controls as necessary" approach a go.

Ok, the intro price is 151€ if owning one DMG Audio plugin? and the demo works for 30 days, so there is more than enough time to test it.
I see only "out within 24hrs"... so we can give a try later this day or tomorrow.

whoa, that's what I call 1st world problems...

no offense meant, theo
I do wish dave all the best as well, regardless of what he thinks his plugins are worth or not.
but at least I try to give it a chance before I decide I'm out of the game.
(and, yes, sometimes I think, I actually should do that, but then, I'm addicted as well, though not as much as you are
