Is Sylenth still relevant in 2016?

Though i must admit that if the GUI looks like butt, it makes me think twice about buying or using the synth too... not sure if that's rather an asthetical thing though, or pragmatism, because ugly GUI = untidy = bad to use.

Sylenth 1 comes with 6 skins and some or all can be resized to 200% This GUI I do like better than stock.

Indeed, Sylenth1's GUI and skins are nice. I was just generally speaking, not about Sylenth1 especially.Nocturnal909 wrote:chk071 wrote:

I was going to make this ridiculously hard but decided to make it stupidly simple instead.
24 tracks
1 Drum
23 Bass
Each bass plays for 7 seconds.
Name each synth.
I'll be stunned if anybody gets half of these.
No hints.
Extra brownie points if you guess what made the drums.

To answer the topic....no!
Not for me but for others yes!
But as always this thread is going into another direction.
What about: "Is a meaning of another person really so relevant for my music production?"
"Should i eat pizza or a steak today?"

Agreed... Bazille and Diva are so different... Completely different features and very different sonic character. Very little overlap.EnGee wrote:I disagree completely!do_androids_dream wrote:I agree with this - there is something common to the sound of all the u-he synths. ACE, Bazille and Diva have nothing in common. I wished that ACE sounds similar to Diva! I could saved some moneyI've also compared ACE with Bazille, they are with completely different characters.

Judging by recent comparison polls, Sylenth is still relevant, but no longer a must have. 6-8 years ago Sylenth was the clear winner in polls. Now at best it is even. Hive vs Sylenth poll was split 50/50. Dune vs Sylenth heavily favored Dune. Spire vs Sylenth favored Spire.

Polls at KVR are far less relevant than Sylenth

Time passes, trends change and better synths emerge, but as you see people are still using Sylenth1 and will be using it for a while.

I don't see the point of that challenge. You have not even tried to make all those 24 synths make the same sound. One might as well play the lottery.
I don't have a clue which synths you used, but I surely prefer some of those bass sounds to the others.
Either way, I think your approach is the wrong way round. Listeners might not be able to tell which synth was used in the mix, but when I make the music, I make my own patches that I like. So to me it is important that an isolated instance of my synth sounds the way I want it to. Your approach basically means that it doesn't matter which synth one uses. But it does matter, at least to me as the one who makes my music. I can't use Hive or some other synth whose sound I don't like just because I know that the listener won't know what I used, anyway.
