Have you ever paid money for a plugin made in SE?

Yes and I'm very happy about it!

Yes but I would not do so again.

No, but there's no bias, I would at the right time/right plugin

No, and I would not. The SE label scares me off.

Just a joke, felt like I needed a third reason in the list. It never even occured to me that it would be taken as an insult. I'll have to remember to use that one again.

Here's a slider example:

http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=603640

More or less the same behavior.
I had a look at the examples. I think I know what you mean, but I'm pretty sure it's in all SE plugins.

The mouse response to move widgets in SE always moves far afield of the slider, so even though you want the slider to move up one, the mouse might be way over at 4. The widget still only is at one, so you can get the setting you want but your mouse will be in a weird spot.

I think that's the problem you mean, and if it is, then yes a very annoying limitation of SE, perhaps the only thing that I really don't like about it. It's been mentioned on the SE usergroup list, but I don't remember if Jeff ever responded. I've never been sure if it was a bug or an intended feature.

For fine adjustments, just hold down the CNTL key on your keyboard then move the widget with your mouse.

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah, that's it exactly. Thanks for confirming my sanity, at least where this is regarded.

Does the cntrl=click apply globally to all SE plugs?

Ctrl-click is there on all SE-made synths. Mighty useful to have, too. I'd guess that several SE users might not even know that the feature exists.

I know it's there, but I always assumed it was something that had to be implemented on a per plug lvl as some devs mention it & some don't.

Good to know though & I'm sure a few ppl reading this will be pleased.

Don't you sell your music, which was made with synthedit?
Yes, we've sold 655 CD's and we get almost, but not quite, $2 each which we have to split 50/50 after our manager gets his percentage. And SE synths make up perhaps 1% of the sound of our first album as it was largely done before I started making synths. And on the CD sleeve we have provided links to all the developers, freeware or commercial, whose synths we used. So whilst we do make some small amount of money from other people's work we do as much as we can to support them.

If/when SE goes commercial, I will pay whatever the license fee is, even though I rarely bother with it anymore and haven't really used anything that has been added to it in the last year. i.e. I will buy it to support Jeff, not to actually use, much as I have with the current shareware SE - I have a licence but I've never entered my code to unlock the restrictions.

Actually discreet bought it from Illuminiere and changed the interface. But, as you asked, let's see - I have never paid for a license but then again, I have never used it commercially so, in terms of money, I've got out of it precisely what it cost me. And yet I have spent countless hours of my own time creating on-line tutorials and solving users questions on various forums, where several others with my level of experience with the product choose to keep their help to commercial training DVD's and books so I feel that I have the moral high-ground there as well.

I sure as hell didn't but even with my relatively short sliders its never really come up.
