I just got kicked off the Exponential Audio mailing list because I didn't purchase the Nimbus upgrade? Yipes!
Hi folks,
Here's what that was about.

Over the years, I've been part of a number of product giveaways and those entrants were responsible for swelling my database by several thousand. But it turned out that a lot of them weren't real--they were apparently sock puppet accounts set up just for entering contests. Last year there was a takedown of several of the domains that hosted those accounts and I suddenly got huge numbers of bounces. That got my Amazon mailing privileges revoked and it took a considerable amount of correspondence to get the account restored.

Since then, I've had to pay special attention to bounces, trying to separate the innocent unattended account from the bogus account. This reached the point that any email message required a day or two of cleanup for me. I've written a number of tools to help with that, but they still require programming attention of their own.

The unsubbing, while poorly worded, was actually quite targeted. It only went out to addresses with no iLok account and with no user information entered from my online signup form. In other words, these entries had only the barest possible information: name and email address. Because their was no iLok information for those folks who were customers, there wasn't any way of making that connection. There were also lots of people who wanted the information, but the database had no indication that they'd actually signed up using the online form.

The scrubbing was necessary to keep the account clean, although there was a non-trivial amount of collateral damage--both to you and to my sleep pattern. I've stepped away from work on the plugs for a week or so and am working very hard on the database.

Again I really do apologize for the inconvenience. I look forward to a time (perhaps next week) where I'm fully back in the plugin world.

I just have to post some quick love for Nimbus.

Nimbus is so transparent when I need it to be. On top of that, the pre delay tempo note feature saves me a ton of time. I can quickly switch between note divisions and the effect is magical, cleaning up my mix in a few seconds. This should be standard in every reverb.

I love love love this reverb.
