Worked for me, too!

Now there are two more questions: I tried to set the left and right sequencer splits to different MIDI channels in the Per Split settings, but I failed, my MIDI monitor just shows data from channel 1. I guess I made a mistake setting it up somewhere.

Also I haven't figured out how to edit the sequencer in one split and play in performance mode in the other one.

an instructional video would be much appreciated!

And to repeat my above-mentioned request: Is there a way to separate subdivisions of four steps by color in the Step Select Bar?

FYI, we released v2.0.0-beta3, the release notes and download links are in the first post of this thread.

I'm using beta3 and it works fine here, with both splits sending to the channels assigned in their splits. If you can tell me specifically which setting isn't working as it should, I can help you better.

Again, it's working fine here with beta3. Maybe check your per-split settings carefully?

I'll be making a video once beta is done and we're sure the features aren't going to change.

That's possible but has problems: If you light some steps of the Step Select Bar in a different color (for example steps 1, 5, 9 and 13), you won't be able to see the alternate color indicating that the step contains notes. Also, what if you're playing in 3/4, 6/8, 7/8 or another meter in which a light every 4 steps doesn't help? That said, I could imagine a new setting that lights every X steps in an alternate color, but defaults to off. I'll talk it over with Geert.

@gbevin I successfully updated to beta3 but still get the error - "Unable to retrieve settings". Any idea why? Brian

Can you try installing beta3 again to see if it still happens when you do this on top of an already installed beta3?

I like the concept of alternating colors. When you use odd meters like 15/16, the last subdivision would just be shorter.
I guess with some practice you can easily put the kick on every fourth step (very basic example), but still colors would provide more structure.
Also, on the Step Select Bar default colors with more contrast than yellow and orange would be helpful (maybe somebody has mentioned this above), especially under daylight.

As to the other issues, everything works since beta3, or I was just doing it all wrong.

I talked this idea over with Geert and we don't believe alternate colors is the correct way to do this because it would prevent the current color scheme to indicate step containing notes. At this time we're focusing on getting the update finished, but in future we might permit indication of subdivisions by briefly blinking them on the step bar whenever you press Split or some other button, similar to how LinnStrument currently indicates middle C whenever you exit Octave/Transpose.

You can change the colors for 1) empty steps, 2) non-empty steps and 3) steps after sequence end, all in the sequencer's Settings screen.

If colors don't work, heavy 4/4 sequencer users might just put some adhesive dots as subdivision markers on the front panel.

Wasn't expecting a sequencer. It seems a bit overwhelming at first glance, more features! I think I will wait for a new panel option (plate) as well as a video overview. Seems to be a lot going on here.

I did try the new OS and the response feels tightened up.

Just wanted to thank Roger and Geert for the continued focus on improving the overall aspect of Linnstrument as expressive controller.

Thanks so much guys!
