The RE isn't free though, right? You're just saying that you have and like the RE and so you're going to download the VST, yes?incubus wrote:
Yeah, I hear ya. And frankly, I don't own or have not used the waves one, but like I said, the RE is bloody fantastic so I'm gonna sucker in.

Can someone tell me the difference between Version 1 and 2 ?
As Version opne is a simple serial and Version 2 is c/r and I am phasing out c/r on my rig I want to know what I lose when I stay with Version 1

Well, you know, I decided that I want to see what all the fuss is about. The meter bounces nicely. I think I prefer the klangheld freebie on anything that I tried it on. The cakewalk babysitter defaults to phoning home every 12 hours, what? Changed that, you can set it up to 720, it didn't like 2000. You can also change the install paths, I just dragged the DLL over. It probably won't make it to the next install along with one or two other, also cool, C/R plugins.
My ears must just be shit, the differences are too subtle for me to care very much.

Um, not much really. It's just the update checker that sets a minimum time between update checking of 12 hours. I'd prefer to just turn that off. If it wasn't clear, I went the lazy route of installing the cakewalk "command center", i.e., the cakewalk babysitter. It's kind of like NI's service center, or whatever their new thing is. I'm ok with stuff like that, except, I doubt that I have any need for more cakewalk products. I own "Studio Instruments", yawn, if I can stop laughing at how it sounds for more than a few seconds I might be able to take a breath and call it out for being shit. It's not even worth trying to use my old cakewalk account to log in with so that I can have it on this machine.Teksonik wrote:Can you expand on that please ? I started out my synth/studio life with cakewalk...for DOS! Loved it back then, hated the first Windows versions and they have just been uninspiring ever since. I tried the CM Zeta freebie, more yawning really. A few sounds were ok, but it was what I expected from cakewalk.
I realized that I didn't have a proper emulation of this, even though I have more than a couple of compressors inspired by it, so I thought that I'd give it a shot and compare it to my other tools. Honestly, I figured that if I actually liked it then it would give me more reason to upgrade Komplete to ultimate to pick up the softtube/NI version and I would just forget about this on the next install.

Ahhh I see thanks. I dropped out of the Cakewalk beta team because of the Command Center and not wanting to install it on my Studio computer. I'm certainly not going to install it now for the CA-2A, free or not.ghettosynth wrote: I went the lazy route of installing the cakewalk "command center", i.e., the cakewalk babysitter.
I still haven't tried to install the plugin by itself. Not too sure if I'll bother or not.

I had this problem as well. I don't know whether it's just slow, or if there is some other weirdness, but, when I took all of the social media stuff off that was on the link that was given to me it worked in Firefox.

That said, it very well could have just been that it was taking a long time to respond, I don't know. It was flaky though.

Yes, that's exactly the behavior that I experienced. Then at some point after using the shorter link, one of my clicks worked, or, it just suddenly decided to acknowledge my existence, I don't know. But, it didn't work for like fifty clicks, then it worked. (ok, not really fifty, I like to exaggerate)sqigls wrote:yeah, the "Get it free" link is doing nothing.
