If there was ever someone who did not stick to a genre...

Jodorowsky's Dune is the best scifi film never made. Pink Floyd, Giger, Moebius, Dali... what a waste.

Oh well, personally when it comes to scifi, I'm more of an Aliens fan. Yes, even the Prometheus that everyone hates. So, supposedly, I'm going to have some good times soon enough as two films are being on the make, set in that universe. Lately the scifi-world has been really depressing anyway, they seem far too concerned with the sci part rather so than the fi part. Which results into a "more than scifi" movie like Interstellar that, despite trying to be legit, gives us "love is the ultimate force" bullshit. Or The Martian, which might be accurate but boring beyond belief.
But as luck would have, us (the younger gen especially), have some good news too. In the world of gaming, we're getting Star Citizen which actually has at least some Dune fiction in it as well, such as the lovely sandworms. Can't speak much of the storytelling yet though, but based on the demonstrations so far, there's lot of good stuff.

The reason people hate "Prometheus" is because it's absurd, a rip-off, has characters you cheered for when they died, no protagonist, and loved by rush lintball.
Other than that it's fine

Unfortunately, yes. I recommend that you get really baked/drunk (whatever your preference is) and watch it just to laugh. But whatever you do, don't watch "Alien" first or you'll need a shrink.

I know why people hate it. But I would not consider it as a ripoff, because we're talking about two very different things, even if set in the same universe. After all, apart from the engineers and some signs of chestbursters, there's not much in common. Perhaps storyline is bit similar to the first Alien, but that only applies for a short while. But I admit, I didn't really like the characters all that much apart from David.incubus wrote:The reason people hate "Prometheus" is because it's absurd, a rip-off, has characters you cheered for when they died, no protagonist, and loved by rush lintball.

And hey, it's not Alien 4

Similar? In what way? Here's what happened:Functional wrote:I know why people hate it. (Scott) "I want to make another Alien film"
(Executive) "What's the plot?"
(Scott) "I have no f**king idea, but it will make money because people like flashy special effects and don't care about what made the first one great"
(Executive) "DONE!"

Land on a planet with seemingly nothing in it. Find a huge derelict object. Get inside to explore it.incubus wrote: Similar? In what way?
To me it's not really an Alien movie because there ain't no Aliens (except that one and the signs of chestbursters, but I think that's just fanservice), simply to put it. I'm just curious about the engineers.

I wonder if Picasso ever rang up Braque and asked: "what if I don't want to be a cubist anymore?"
Gaslighting...is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.
