To make it more focused, maybe smth like that: one synth, 4 instances of it for the whole track excluding the drums, the bass and things like risers, no more than two instances of the synth at the same time.

Great
When should this have a deadline.. Next friday? I trust that people only use 3 days to it even if they have 7 days to choose from when to make it ^^
*edit* or should there just be time until friday, instead of that 3 day limit?

Thanks for the idea, I sort of forgot about using Drum Rack for other things, I got two tracks free now and can finish it!Lejurai wrote:And for that workaround.. If you're ok with bouncing and using loops of what you've made, the drummachine can hold a pile of simplers.
For example: make a bassline, bounce it, toss it in to the drum machine. You can have.. 16?.. bass loops in that DM and you still have pile of tracks to make the same thing for drums and leads and fx and...

Certainly, the quality of musical content in this thread is getting dangerously high so we need to take drastic measures

3 evening sessions seem fine but I don't have an opportunity to make music every dayLejurai wrote:Great

As promised, a bunch of free psytrance presets for Dune2.

They are not as polished as the presets from commercial banks but you may use them as starting points for something. Also there are some additional WTs in the pack (not created by me but the creators allowed me to distribute them).

In a bid to fastlane myself to psy acclimatization, I've been flushing my brains with mixtapes from Youtube, but it's a bit of a hit & miss without knowing practically any of the current DJ or producer names... especially a lot of the "progressive" subgenre stuff seem content just recycling early 2000's progressive trance cliches spiced with some goa-ish elements. This "forest" stuff is quite interesting, minimalistic, suggestive and even atonal melodies, but there seems to be sweet, sweet music labelled under all the subgenres. I'd be really grateful for any recommendations for quality mixes!
Also, what would you consider the single most important composition or production technique for yourself, the biggest revelation or improvement which had a positive impact on the quality of your psychedelic music?

What kind of psy do you prefer? Melodic? Atonal? Euphoric? Dark?
My tastes in psytrance were shaped by Dacru records, but if you liked forest psy, you may find their music too superficial.
In order to quickly get started you may chek out Psylocybian (Sound Magus) psy tutorials

Hi all and great thread!
Let me post a couple of (a bit lengthy) videos I made while checking out my recently purchased Avenger synth. The more I get into it the more I see enormous possibilities for Psytrance sound design.
Of course comments are welcome.
Beat & Bass
Lead Line
Also for your enjoyment a little Yahel remake I did with my pal Zohar.

Thanks! I don't have enough exposure to current psy yet to tell what I like most, so as long as it's good I'll check it out!
That said, I've noticed some things that turn me off, like transposing the main bassline, melodies and sound design that harks strongly back to progressive trance (I don't know the English word for the Finnish "kiksu" or "kikkelitranse"
Lejurai knows what I mean!) and clear, exposed vocal samples lifted from movies etc. Processed, mutilated vocals used like synths work awesomely though.
A lot of the stuff probably suits the dance arenas better than deep home listening, and nothing wrong with that.
At this time and age, I'm aiming more to produce for the latter. I certainly lack the drive to get my stuff actually played by DJs, but sharing my vision of the spirituality of trance music with even one listener is an endlessly fascinating prospect. Or even reaching that state by myself.

Then if you age going to listen to the mixes I've posted, start with the second one.jon wrote: That said, I've noticed some things that turn me off, like transposing the main bassline, melodies and sound design that harks strongly back to progressive trance
For mostly non-melodic psytrance without progressive trance elements check out Tristan, Laughing Buddha, Outsiders, Psylocybian, Wizack Twizack and latest releases by Electric Universe and Space Tribe, or things labelled as darkpsy, forest (Parvati records) or hi-tech (i'm not very familiar with these genres, insane bpm and the lack of melodic content put me off, but they are considered as psy as it gets)
Or for great and unconventional use of melodies, U-Recken and Terrafractyl.

I spent a good portion of yesterday working on some basic templates for kick and bass and will hopefully have something soon to upload.
I would have already had something to share but an early Christmas and registration for classes just opened up this 16th (a lot of work!).
I got a fever last night too (maybe start of a cold?), but will see how I feel and try to atleast upload some presets and audio demos. I think I made about 5 project templates yesterday experimenting with new ideas, will pick best one and focus on that
Working with the same kick and bass, it might be interesting to see how someone else would tweak things there way with an fx chain and throw it back...

Is this the guy you mean, PsiloCybian: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 7Xym8N-o0frecursive one wrote: In order to quickly get started you may chek out Psylocybian (Sound Magus) psy tutorials
doesn't matter if he isn't though, as those tutorials are awesome, basically just him doing stuff with little explanation. Tons of inspiration and ideas!
I really like his music as well.
