There are much better options available at much better prices that don’t require a dongle.

Although I do enjoy the McDSP products I own, which includes almost their entire lineup, I do feel that as software development company they are a somewhat lazy operation when it comes to minor product details.
As an engineer, I truly believe that the end-user experience should be transparent, if technologically possible, between different platforms, plugin format, etc. It is a pet peeve of mine when this does not occur. McDSP apparently feels otherwise. Although minor complaints, the lack of VST2 presets and Windows sidechaining are issues that should have been resolved a long time ago.
Also, McDSP seems to regularly repackage older technology into new products, IMO, and the plugin installation process is rather clunky.
With that said, I do not regret investing in McDSP products. However, I would definitely wait for them to go on sale and not purchase them at full price. Unlike many years ago, McDSP plugins are more affordable than ever and various sales are offered throughout the year.

Mcdsp only got crusty old plugs and not much you cant get anywhere else.
Picked up futzbox for some studio projects a couple months ago but thats it. Not a bad plug for sound but the ui is f*ckin tiny and real slow on windows.

Definitely, they are not without issue as developers. I just find it funny
how people are so quick to judge their quality against other products, likely
without ever having tried them. Because yes, if you don't have an iLok
yourself, how can you really offer a reliable opinion, being unable to even
demo them.

I really like and use the FutzBox quite often. Also the Retro Pack is sitting in a few of my templates. Never had any issues with them.

To each his own. I do like them for the sound, while green is not my favorite color,
mostly I like them for their efficiency. They are often what I choose when using
a host with questionable efficiency, like Reason for instance. I can instantiate
a shitload of dynamics processing that barely even moves the DSP meter with no
latency. I have a lot of plugins to compare them with, likely all those that people have
in mind to compare them with. And in regard to efficiency, I can say very little can
touch them. And I definitely got them way cheaper than a lot of them.

Yep, I like McDSP too. I have most of the other native plugins out there that are competitors. I like the sound McDSP and I don't mind the GUI. It's completely workable. I use Logic. They get used here and there when I want the McDSP sound, which I can't really describe except in general terms. You either hear it or you don't and it might not even be there... whatever works.

Here are the EC-300 presets in (.fxp) format : I hope they will work because I had to transcribe one by one, withg REASON 10 under Mac accepting VST format.

Very bloody good!!...
Alas, I didn’t end up owning any. I invested to heavily in other devs while waiting for them to support the AU architecture.
Now I have too many projects relying on too many plugins which I already own.

why would you ever do that one by one? are the formats so different that it can't be automated? if it can and you just lack the skills, PM me, we can throw something together in no time.geronimo wrote:Here are the EC-300 presets in (.fxp) format : I hope they will work because I had to transcribe one by one, withg REASON 10 under Mac accepting VST format.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.
