I don't like their strategy. The free Prime version doesn't support VST plugins, nor does the Artist version for 100 euros. So, I would have to buy their VST add-on, which is 87 euros.
Not to mention the huge download of about a GB.

Still, too big for me, I don't want such bloated stuff, nor do I want to spend so much money, I am just a hobbyist

I have hundreds of plugins, every single one is compatible.dupont wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 9:36 amhttps://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=35196fluffy_little_something wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 5:23 pmHow does that show? There is a bug with stuck midi notes and plugins GUI refresh.
And which plugins are not compatible?

stuck notes with tyrell N6, reported many times
GUI refresh lazzy with microtonic plugin
The thread you posted is 10 years old. It is irrelevant.
And the stuck midi notes thread is also from a few years back and not clear at all.

Reaper is so ridiculously powerful theres nothing I haven't found it can do. It took me awhile to get used to it but once I was I love although when I want just a stripped down jamming session I use Waveform 9. Best part is I got both of them for $60 each which is cheaper then any other DAW. And I got Studio One prime version and although I love the GUI I don't think it's necessarily easier to use then Reaper at all.

That may be true, but it can make a simple job unnecessarily difficult at times.SoundPorn wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:22 am Reaper is so ridiculously powerful theres nothing I haven't found it can do.
I recently bought an external synth, and had no trouble in getting it work with a number of DAWs when played through my master keyboard - through my USB interface - and on to the synth. I spent hours trying to get it to work with Reaper, and gave up in the end.
Now wait for the Reaper experts to jump in

Reason is the Cessna of DAWs. Reaper is the Ultralight of DAWs. Cubase is the C130 of DAWs, but I think that I'm done now, this analogy can only go so far.fluffy_little_something wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 3:34 pm I would actually prefer the Cessna of DAW's. That's why I was using Mulab for a few years, it seemed simple at first, but I never really liked it. All the others I have tried so far were way too bloated for my needs.

Just use Cakewlk Bandlab then.fluffy_little_something wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:08 pm Still, too big for me, I don't want such bloated stuff, nor do I want to spend so much money, I am just a hobbyist![]()
Its free, and as a new user, I have found very simple to use.
Oh, and its a fun DAW, very important for hobbyists

In that analogy, you gotta be a C130 user.ghettosynth wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:37 amReason is the Cessna of DAWs. Reaper is the Ultralight of DAWs. Sometimes, I use all three though. I think that I use Reaper more than any other DAW. It certainly is the DAW that I have created the most music in.dellboy wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:02 amIn that analogy, you gotta be a C130 user.ghettosynth wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:37 amReason is the Cessna of DAWs. It is Sonar, right? I remember trying it some time ago, crashed on me repeatedly.dellboy wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:01 amJust use Cakewlk Bandlab then.fluffy_little_something wrote: Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:08 pm Still, too big for me, I don't want such bloated stuff, nor do I want to spend so much money, I am just a hobbyist![]()

And I am rather suspicious when something is free...

Yeah, i thought the same as you about its stability, but since Bandlab took it over and put out a number of updates its pretty stable on my machine. I share your thoughts about free, but you have to remember that only a year ago this program cost $500. So its not free in the sense of an amateur production, its a professional DAW that is being given away for no cost. At some point in time, the billionaires son who bought it will have to find a revenue stream.fluffy_little_something wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 4:28 pm

Crazy, and a bit unfair towards the competition

No need to feel sorry for them, they did not shed any tears when Gibson dumped Sonar, they went into a feeding frenzy mopping up all the ex Sonar users with cut price cross-grades. Anyways, I see no evidence of people jumping ship to a free DAW.fluffy_little_something wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 5:28 pm Crazy, and a bit unfair towards the competition![]()

The last answer is from 2018, so this subjet has yet not been closed and the stuck note issue is still there, 10 years later ! Is that relevant enought ?
