Off topic, but I think I am in the same boat. I work a lot, and am lucky to have enough money. While I would rather spend time making music, buying a plugin takes a lot less time and let's me think (more or less subconsciously) that I am working toward creating music. I am 100% convinced that if I worked less, I would make more music and also buy fewer VST plugins . . . .starflakeprj wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 5:55 pmOh man, don't get me started on software in general, incl. VST plugins, then. Looking for someone/something to blame (except myself), and deep down in the archives I'm remembering where everything started. I bought Studio One v1.65 when it was released, can I blame them?vurt wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 5:40 pm i don't think ive spent half that on software in 20 years
probably closer to the 1k mark to be honest.I'm lucky that I have a job that can support it, I mean economically. But I also work a lot, so less time for music making

How hard would it be just to put track folders in, and implement a versatile zoom tool ?

Right again, and glad for it.
Good job Props, happy to see you finally recognize where you should put your efforts and who you should be listening to... and you're welcome. Ignore the fanboys, only people like me will tell it to you straight and put a dolla in yer pocket.

For Reason Studios? I don't think it's hard. Simply the DAW isn't the focus anymore. As @Anosou said elsewhere, "Rack is the product" so they'll keep the sequencer & mixer functional for those hardcore crazies that hang on to it, but 99% of effort will go towards Reason Rack Plugin, sound packs for R+ and new Rack Extensions... I do understand financially it's a smarter choice, i.e. it's better to sell new RE every 3-6 months for $99, than have people upgrading a DAW every 2 years for $149. But I'm still not happy about ithotmitts wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 7:04 pm How hard would it be just to put track folders in, and implement a versatile zoom tool ?

Plugin Boutique seems to be offering a deal (for £139) offering a year of Reason+ and an included upgrade to Reason 12 when it's released.
https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... -Reason-12
Anyone know if that's the same deal others are offering or is that unique to PB?

If you sub to Reason+, you're always on the newest version of Reason.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:20 am Plugin Boutique seems to be offering a deal (for £139) offering a year of Reason+ and an included upgrade to Reason 12 when it's released.

Actually, you get the new features even before they're available for purchase to perpetual license holders.
BTW, that offer totals for me to EUR158 (incl. tax), whereas the same thing from JRR Shop (with code "forum") is USD124. If you're in Europe, then check that instead if you're interested in R+

You're right and it's kind of a shame because as we know those 'hardcore crazies' are also the 'loyal fanbase' who've been buying for years. I get it , but I do use Reason sequencer simply because I always have and I can't be arsed to learn how other DAW's do the stuff I can already do. Just want a bit of simple coding to improve matters would probably take a few days if that, come on coders, you can do it...track folders and zoom pleaseantic604 wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 6:52 amFor Reason Studios? looks like the upgrade from R11 or Suite to 12 is not available yet for pre purchase. (intro price,
Ableton kind of idea)
I guess the 30% off won't be available for a while. Or have I missed stg ?

Yes, no pre-upgrade from Reason 11 is available.AcrossTheSky wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:50 am looks like the upgrade from R11 or Suite to 12 is not available yet for pre purchase. (intro price, Ableton kind of idea)

Current -30% for upgrades from earlier Reason versions (and for most of REs, too) lasts until the end of May.

GUI scaling is coming in v12, but only because Reason Rack Plugin also needs it...

I know that, but what happens if you don't renew the Reason+ sub after that year, do you go back to 11 or stay on 12?antic604 wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:27 amIf you sub to Reason+, you're always on the newest version of Reason.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:20 am Plugin Boutique seems to be offering a deal (for £139) offering a year of Reason+ and an included upgrade to Reason 12 when it's released.

If you now have 11, there's no way to pre-upgrade to 12 right now.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 11:28 amI know that, but what happens if you don't renew the Reason+ sub after that year, do you go back to 11 or stay on 12?antic604 wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:27 amIf you sub to Reason+, you're always on the newest version of Reason.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:20 am Plugin Boutique seems to be offering a deal (for £139) offering a year of Reason+ and an included upgrade to Reason 12 when it's released.

After 1 year has passed and you'd stop paying for Reason+, you'd go back to 11.3.
I think this listing is just misleading (or uninformed).

Yeah, definitely. I'm basing it on the fact that Reason Studios don't offer equivalent deal, so I can't see how Pluginboutique would be able to - I doubt they'll give you Reason 11 -> 12 upgrade in September for free
