To be honest all the Waldorf and PPG synths have a cold and glassy sound that seem always to split opinions. The Blofeld always sounded really digital to me and the fx are pretty awful, I only got one because it's what I could afford at the time. And even the newer Iridium and Quantum synths never impressed me either when I heard them.

Bad effects and poor MIDI clock sync was what put me off the Blofeld. The core synth engine is very close to Largo, minus the PPG filter emulation and sample ability.

Surprise! It’s not analog and not even hybrid! I feel like if you’re coming at it from that expectation, of course you will hate it. It’s very digital sounding, and I feel like it has a kind of unique character. Of course you don’t have to like that character, but starting a thread to call it “awful” is right out of the troll playbook and speaks more about a sad need for attention than it does about the OP’s opinion.

I think this sounds pretty damn good.

Yeah, showing program numbers on that big screen on the Pulse 2 is just so dumb. I'm thinking of selling my Pulse 2 and getting another Pulse 1. Even though I've made some really punchy bass patches on the Pulse 2, I think the overall sound of the Pulse 1 is better. It's just dirtier and more aggressive. The only issue with the Pulse 1 is the loss of bass when you crank up the resonance. This is just a consequence of the ladder filter design on the Pulse 1.

Let's see, you have posted on KVR over 10,000 times while I have posted only 186 times in the past 10 years. Who has the sad need for attention?

Largo is one of the most original synths i've heard,it's heresy to put Largo and Awful in same sentence imho

Filters and reverb are sick.
I guess everything music and sound related is subjective,but the feeling LARGO gives it's unique.
When have more time for it will make soundset exploring that feeling.
Largo is awesome

Just out of curiosity, does anyone who thinks that Largo sounds great own a MicroWave I or II or the new Waldorf M?

Incidentally, in several posts back I rescinded my claim that Largo and Blofeld sound awful after hearing a couple of nice third-party Blofeld (not Largo) soundsets. But I am still of the opinion that the MicroWave I sounds better than Blofeld or Largo.

I'm of the opinion that a Waldorf Q sounds better than all those.

If you really want that Microwave sound, they go for about 2.000 € here. Yes, absolutely ridiculous price. So, if you don't want to spend that, you have to go with second or third best. That's life.

I own a MicroWave I and II. I like the sound of them so much that I was thinking of getting a Waldorf M (and maybe selling my MicroWave II). But the M is so big that I don't know where to put it given all my other desktop modules. So I might try to find a deal on a MicroWave I. I can always go higher with my synth rack. I just can't go wider on my desktop.

EDIT: Oh, I used to have a mint condition MicroWave II XT that I bought new. I replaced it with my used MicroWave II rack because of space considerations. That was probably the right call. But I still miss that big orange beast.
