You are proof positive that only an idiot would still be on Windows XP in 2022, if you are so blind you can't see that WMP is the same application it has always been, with exactly the same features it has always had. If all it takes is a GUI makeover to make you think something is new and different, then I can't see why you aren't on Windows 11.

You just don't get it. Nobody cares about Windows Media Player. The rest of us moved on from Windows Media Player a long time ago. I haven't used it since Windows 98. lolBONES wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 2:57 am You are proof positive that only an idiot would still be on Windows XP in 2022, if you are so blind you can't see that WMP is the same application it has always been, with exactly the same features it has always had. Try MusicBee. Way better.

Windows Media Player isn't that bad.
I often feel like Windows users simply won't give anything with "Microsoft" on it a fair chance.
Granted, their more current UWP apps are often really gruesome, and they never really made a good browser until they chose to switch to a Chromium base, but, they also do good software. Office for example, or Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.

I don't think I've used Windows Media Player since my laptop was unfairly graced with Millennium Edition (always had a soft spot for that OS myself) .... however I've used Media Player Classic as my primary Video Player since around 2003 nearly daily and to this day !

MPC Beats is "not that bad." But I don't really see people talking it up here about how they're using it as their DAW.
This is not that.chk071 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:07 pm I often feel like Windows users simply won't give anything with "Microsoft" on it a fair chance.
Try MusicBee and some of the other most popular music players for Windows. Really dig into their feature sets. Give them a "fair chance." Then you'll understand why people might choose to use something else.

I used Winamp and foobar2000 for a long time. Windows Media Player does everything I ask for, and it's included with my OS.cel4145 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:41 pmThis is not that.chk071 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:07 pm I often feel like Windows users simply won't give anything with "Microsoft" on it a fair chance.

But this is not about you. You were making a sweeping generalization about other people.chk071 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:44 pmI used Winamp and foobar2000 for a long time. The "X works for me, and therefore is all everybody else needs," is a very limited view of the world.

You made this statement in response to a comment about WMP
And after being encouraged to evaluate some of the different media players to see why other people might choose them, you followed up with how WMP is all you need.chk071 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 3:07 pm I often feel like Windows users simply won't give anything with "Microsoft" on it a fair chance.
So if you could translate your responses into what you really meant, that would be great!

I said that it does all that I ask for, and why would you criticize me for saying that?cel4145 wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 4:23 pm You made this statement in response to a comment about WMP

I never said that is's all that everybody else needs, so, try to comprehend better what others are posting.

I got the point. You just don't want to admit that my initial response to you was correct. That there are very good reasons why many people would choose another music player over WMP. It's not just a case of people not being "fair" to WMP.
