That is my point, it will become a nightmare for the users to track as well.
And I agree, why not leave it to Teilo to decide what to include? ;-)

Devs and Users could report these things here, so it shouldn't become too hard on him hopefully.

Cheers,

Tom
It is also challenging because it doesn't just depend on the Plug-in, but also the Host. CLAP instrument A might support poly modulation, but that doesn't mean the DAW someone uses does as well (assuming it implements CLAP)

Do whatever you want of course, but in my book, I'd like to know what a host or plugin supports.

Cheers, over and out.

It's pretty bugged out, though. In Bitwig, there's a major window issue. The plugin takes up only 1/4 of the window, and the window is 4X too big.
Hmm, I'll look into it and talk to the bitwig team about this.

As for features of CLAP, *everything* is optional. It might be a lot of yes/no fields to depict them all, and it might be difficult to do this correctly for each plug-in.

Also, something that doesn't support one feature today might support it tomorrow. No-one should be forced or expected to support everything at once. We had almost a year to prepare for this, and it didn't happen overnite, either (and it's still beta, too).

- Non-Destructive Modulation.
- Host provided Microtuning.
- Thread Pooling (not as directly important for the user, but helps deciding which version to use).
Those are probably the most important.

In Bitwig, parameters that support Polyphonic Modulation are green, while Monophonic ones are blue.

Cheers,

I would think that it would be the responsibility of the plug-in developer to advertise any special features that the plug-in provides. The fact that it loads in a clap host is the key for me on whether or not it should be listed as a CLAP plug-in. But that’s just my opinion. :)

Totally agreed. The most important thing is to track the diffusion and support of the plugin format for me.

Again, everyone. There are plenty of general CLAP discussion threads.

This thread is for the clapdb.tech database. If it's not about submissions to the database, or the database itself, please post your questions or discussions on one of those many other threads.

Afaik, there are still many plugins being Vst3 since years but not supporting major features of the VST3 standard... i.e. Wave plugins with their seperate mono/stereo/multichannel versions no matter that VST3 supports this being present in a single plugin version...
Please!

Take the general CLAP discussion to the appropriate thread. For example: /forum/viewtopic.php?p=8464184

How often is the DB updated? Since 29th Jun, the latest one, there have been a few additions in this thread already.

Guys, this is spreading :)

Thanks,
Mario

This is a volunteer effort. There is no update schedule.

Unless developers specifically call out the CLAP features they support, we will always be chasing down accurate data. Unfortunately, developers have a nasty habit of not including this type of information. For some devs it's like pulling teeth just to get them to report version numbers. Witness the number of devs that silently add Apple Silicon support. It boggles the mind.

In any case, it's a great idea, and I will add this. If nothing more, we can rely upon user reports for those devs that don't provide info. I will probably make this a many-to-many relationship in the DB so that other features could be added in the future without code changes.

That said, what features do we need to include? PolyMod and Voice Stacking for sure, but what else?

Any thoughts Urs, baconpaul?

Ok. I have the CLAP Features working. They show up on each title's page, and are searchable on the search page.

I tagged what I know about, but I'm sure there are a few that still need tagging. Feature reports are welcome.

One nice thing is Ben seems to have been quick off the mark and has already added CLAP format to the KvR plugin and host database:
