Some plugins have so much of the caring personality of the developer in them:
- MuTools (MuLab is now a VST!)
- Blue Cat Audio
- LiquidSonics

Top 3 fav VST devs, plugins which are overhyped, VST instruments that sound so good that you would choose them over any hardware synth, good sounding real VST drums in 2022.

Hmmm to narrow it down to 3:
1) u-he for making overall the best synths and having a fantastic customer support and tech support and upgrade pricing.
2) softube the company that makes the outstanding sounding effects & synths.
3) NI despite all its flaws, for making Kontakt the workhorse of many of projects.
yeah you said three...but for me my list is better at 5
4) Spectrasonics, though initially very pricey, the free upgrades keep coming and coming and having a great tech support, and making my Desert Island synth, Omnisphere.
5) Tal for making the J-8, probably offering the best value for money on all their products and without a doubt the quickest developer to add features and fix bugs (well him and Steve from Xfer)..

TOPIC REELAUNCH :
I started my own investigation a long time ago, and I conclude with :
- TDR
- MELDA
- SONIBLE
With Bitwig grid, you have everything you can imagine. You can go from what's efficient and quick during the production phase to what's efficient and precise in mixing. Then, in mastering, nothing is impossible, even the impossible. And you are free to design your own sound, you can easily create your own sound identity. Digital format, live, vinyl, stereo, surround and you can even explore Dolby Atmos by limiting yourself to three brands.

For me it's:
- Fabfilter
- Blue Cat Audio
- LiquidSonics
I think they just strike the perfect balance between being superbly programmed workhorses, innovation and reliable quality.

My final list is :
Kiloheartz
UVI
Fabfilter
I am basing my choice on a mix between quality of the end product and overall quality of the service/pricing.
If I were to choose only by the product, it would be:
Fabfilter
Kilohearts
U-He/VPS/Arturia
If I were to choose by quality of service:
UVI / UVI ! / UVI !! (Draw

Arturia - not perfect but they have a long term vision for their software synthesizers
AAS - simple installers, NKS integration, a free soundset each year and reasonable upgrade prices not to mention some outstanding products in their line up
Melda - free for life upgrades, very lean code , simple installers, frequent updates, great tools.

By usage:
Kilohearts
Melda
iZotope
Yeah, I know, but I would be lying if I said I didn't use iZotope products in every project.
By overall brand affinity:
Kilohearts
Melda
d16
runners-up: Arturia, Kuassa
I actually use Kuassa in all projects involving a guitar or bass but I did get Amplitube this year so we'll see. Still, Kuassa Cerberus is hard to beat for bass and I love Kuassa Clarent for guitar.
