Farewell Firewire

Makes me feel old

Depends on what parts of Firewire are being used. There were extensions for some hardware that used to be bundled in, and those were removed. So some Firewire devices work, but others do not.

There are GUI glitches with a few plugins.

For everything I have (which is a lot) the only thing that has a problem is Cherry Audio. They have some bad code in their cross-platform path functions that is causing backslashes to be added to their pathing. This is causing a large number of folders to be created in ~/Library with names like "Library\CherryAudio\CA2600". The plugins still work, but any data you had is in the wrong place, and you have to re-authenticate, redownload content, etc. You can workaround this, but it's a pain. Only Sines does not do this. All the rest do.

I have the same thing happening with Voltage Modular and sent Cherry Audio log files. They seem to be responsive and will hopefully get this figured out and patched soon. Seems to work ok -- just placing the folders in the wrong location due to the backslash in the paths.

Any UAD under Ventura?

according to the UAD forum people, only issue (according to this thread) is the Spark version of Ravel, but it worked fine after a reinstall.

So is iLok working if you do use the dongle? If not I will have to wait

iLok has no issue with Ventura that I can find (yet). Dongle/Computer/Cloud all working fine for me.

Do you have Apple Silicon or Intel? As most of the troubles is related to Intels

Huh? Im on an Intel and everything in my iLok account is working as it did under Monterey. Not a single hiccup upgrading here. Everything SoundToys, Eventide, PSP, etc is still working great, all iLok protected. Even Absynth 5 is still loading and working here.

Also GUI problems in Sistema by guk.ai in (Logic), however it works fine in Ableton 11. (Ventura, AU)

If you have any apps that require CodeMeter (for example, Virharmonic Violin), you need to update to the latest 7.5.1 version with Ventura, to work properly.

btw I upgraded to Ventura today as I'm still setting up a new Mac Studio anyway so it seemed no great problem ti try and and I wanted access to some new features - loving Stage Manager for example
