where do you keep them all? :o
i have one, sarsons, for chips. wi' mushy peas.
My kitchen is filled with a million ingredients since we cook food from all around the world, luckily there's a good amount of storage space.

Same here... we have a few different bottles of balsamico too (some for cooking, others for salad (black cherry, raspberry) and then also balsamico creme, of course) plus the other vinegars such as white wine, honey, rice and so forth... especially the latter one I use a lot, so we keep a couple of spare bottles...

so there you have it: GAS isn't always restricted to musical equipment... :hihi:

Fantastic post.
Thanks man. I put that checklist together for myself, and I figured maybe posting it publicly would reinforce it. Sort of like an 8-step program for GAS Anonymous.

It is a beauty- thanks for that. I follow a few of those already (most of the time) but is very helpful seeing them all laid out

It would appear the Total Studio Max deal is currently $199, but the specs state Modo Bass 1.5 and Modo Drum 1. So am I right to assume this bundle is a way to get people in to using old versions of plugins, which have a paid upgrade path?
Or worse, with certain deals IK don't allow an upgrade... so I don't understand what one gets for the price with this current deal.
My understanding is you get Modo bass v1.5 (the point update was free), whereas you don't get Modo Drum 2, a paid update.

ROTMetro wrote: Fri Nov 11, 2022 6:14 pm So far I've gone for IK Total Studio Max. I really wanted the tape emulators and this give me the Fame and Sunset reverbs, Comprexxor, and MODO Bass 2. I think it was $199 just recently so not really the best deal but now I'm pretty much set. I had a bunch of expensive reverbs on my wishlist but decided the IK thing made better sense and will be more than good enough for what I am capable of.

You get exactly what's advertised. I show upgrade paths in my account for all the stuff that isn't already the latest version or a MAX version. I don't think you are restricted on upgrading anything with this bundle. Upgrade pricing is high, yes, that's why the price isn't $1000. Best bet is probably to wait awhile and upgrade the whole bundle in a few years rather than get nickel and dimed on a la carte upgrades.

...by which time there will be new a la carte products and upgrades not included in the bundle.

This is the way of it. Buy on release to get everything at a relatively high price, or wait a few years and get an older incomplete version at a low price.

They will do what they always do. Get them cheap or for free, than in few years you will pay more for the update, a very bad surprise for a lot of people

The good things is everyone can put their money where they believe is better

Yes, why accept a completely free plugin from a quality developer because in several years time if you update your OS you may have to actually pay a few bucks to make it work on the new platform?

Because that few bucks may be more than the actual plugin cost while on sale, and they do sales almost all the time, i saw different videos where people show how much the WUP costs, without any new real feature, but just compatibility.

I'm not really interested anyway on discussing about WUP pro and cons.
It's something i don't like, but can be awesome for someone else, i don't think there is a rule that make everyone happy.

It's nice to have different devs that take different business choices, so everyone can choose whatever they prefer

Why do you feel a need to talk about stuff you most obviously have not the first clue about?

WUP is between 12 and 18$ per plugin and WUPing all expired plugins in one go is capped at 240$.

That is if one even needs to do that in the first place, which on Windows is highly unlikely, since even the
ancient V9 are available as VST3 and run flawlessly on Win11.
Frankie.T wrote: Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:05 pm i saw different videos where people show how much the WUP costs

So there you have it: a lot of folks talk a lot of bull on Youtube-videos, which is why many of us more knowledgeable guys don't like to waste our time on videos we expect to be unworthy of it. ;-)

I was hoping for a 25% off on WUP, at one stage they were coming out regularly but I haven't seen one for a while now, bummer. I own everything except a few 360/Surround type plugs, most of mine are V13/14 with a few 12's.

Come on Waves bring on the 25% off WUP :wheee:

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a significant lack of BF sales and threads going on this year? Normally by this time of year, there'd be at least a mega thread in an obvious spot of most music sites listing all the sales going on. I feel like aside from this thread (and truth be told, there's little itt that is exciting to me) there's little out there. I can't find a thread on Gearspace. Or Reddit. Or any of the other usual places where sales are being announced this time of year.
