Could you live with one DAW and one developer’s bundle?

I could be happy with Digital Performer and Native Instruments. I like analog modeled synths and would really miss U-He, but sampling and granular synthesis is a bigger issue. Reaktor alone could be your only synth and effects bundle.
I would be almost as happy with UVI Falcon and FX.

This thread got me thinking about that story when Miles Davis recruited Chick Correa from Juliard and was presented an Electric Piano to play. Chick protested that he only played Acoustic and Miles told him something like "now you play this". So a more interesting thing to ponder is whether we can live with one DAW and one developer that we don't choose but is thrust upon us as the condition.
ICBW, but think most of us would answer yes.

Mostly we're spoiled for choices. So many songwriting contests forcing one choice prove the issues that we don't need 90% of what we have.BBFG# wrote: Sun Aug 27, 2023 4:10 pm This thread got me thinking about that story when Miles Davis recruited Chick Correa from Juliard and was presented an Electric Piano to play. Buying a synth or effect that looks like I could use it on one song or another is a no brainer, years ago I would spend twice that on alcohol and drugs in one weekend. For the longest time I mainly used Zebra, Absynth and Kontakt.

Another story is where Tony Kaye, the first keyboardist for Yes was asked to add a Melotron to his setup and his reluctance to do so was a contributing factor in him leaving the band.machinesworking wrote: Sun Aug 27, 2023 4:44 pmMostly we're spoiled for choices. I think most of us will add whatever promises to increase our choices. Even if it's for just one sound or song. No matter how redundant it is in our setup in the majority of what it does.

I don't have a collector's mentality. And I try not to be too much of a demanding fusspot, it's wasted time and energy. (And what's more, I've little money to spend
)
Indeed, I could have years of fiesta with just Logic + Vital (or Surge, or Dexed… )

Pretty much covers everything doesn't it. And they both have what the other lacks.
Despite NIs rather dad state of development lately, I'm still surprised by the sound of so many of their synths. Opened up Rounds and a few other Reaktor ensembles the other day and was pretty impressed again.
