Examigan wrote: Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:53 pm No King Crimson, Yes, or Jeff Beck on the list? One of the best shows I saw was KC in 1995 at the Paramount in Seattle. I was very glad I was able to see JB in 1976 and saw Yes 7 times!

I also saw Adrian Belew on his solo tour in 2019 from 2nd row/center. :)

Others I saw that are on the list were Led Zeppelin, Rush (7 different tours), AC/DC (w/Bon Scott), Zappa (two different tours), and Aerosmith (Rocks tour).
Saw Belew a few times, once with Crimson, once with Laurie Anderson, and I think the other time was with the Tom Tom Club....The guy is amazing.
It was really cool since I was so close to the stage, at the end of the encore song (Thela from Discipline) he reached out to do high fives and shake hands etc. and I reached over the first row seats to get a handshake. 8)

The one that sticks in my mind is Peter Gabriel 1980, Bath England, in a small hall. I also saw the Police in the same venue, a bit earlier I think. I think they were the support act but I can’t remember who the main act was.

when i was in high school, a girl i liked invited me to a simon & garfunkel concert, with a guest appearance by the everly brothers. i don't think it gets any more rock & roll than that.

many years ago i was busking on the streets of boulder colorado, and the drummer from Foghat tossed a $20 in my guitar case and chatted with us for a moment. seemed like a cool guy.

in the past, on many different times,
i saw bands playing in the city parks for free
they might be local or not, i don't know
maybe their concerts were great and classic
reggae, folk, world
that kind of stuff, just neutral to me
summertime, just biking around on my 10-speed

anyways, if i remember correctly,
we paid like 90 bucks to see david bowie in concert
he went pop and it seemed he was just going through the motions
those ones probably don't count as "classic"
his ziggy stardust concerts might qualify eh?

i was living in montreal for about two years and could have gone
to cbgbs in new york but i was too young and my uncle wasn't into that
heck, i wasn't into that, yet

that uncle was one of the few relatives that love driving around
we might have passed by madison square gardens unknowingly
led zeppelin played there in their prime
there's a film of that

i read that led zeppelin's hard rock side is mostly appreciated by
teenage males, 15 years old, average
that sounds about right in my case
and if one is 15 right now, in 2024, led zep woud have the same effect
no?

second best time to be alive, the midteens
the age after toddler being best time to be alive,
everything is new and vivid
no?

Simon and garfunkel play folk music not rock n roll.
And no, folk-rock is not rock n roll.
Everly bros is more on the country side than rock and definitely not rock n roll.
Little Richard and Chuck Berry, *that's* Rock N Roll.

they played a 10 minute version of bridge over troubled water, that's definitely prog rock

I saw Zeppelin in 1977 (Seattle) and I really liked the show. 😎

No votes for Joni Mitchell?

Anyone see this brilliant artist live?

I would have liked to but the opportunity never arose.

Just googled and the 1978 date fits but I have no recollection of them at all. But I remember The Police set quite well.

I didn’t see Heart live, but I did go see Anne and Nancy Wilson play an acoustic set in a smaller venue in Seattle.
