Anytime I upgrade to a new Kontakt version. I always Batch Resave the libraries.
Batch resave has a much faster response time now. Once that’s done, your libraries should load much much faster. Obviously nvme / m.2 drives will make for the best experience.

This, although in my experience Kontakt can't make use of extra NVMe speeds over SSD.trusampler wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 6:42 pm Anytime I upgrade to a new Kontakt version. I always Batch Resave the libraries.

The other thing if you have SSDs is to reduce the preload buffers to minimum or near minimum, that speeds up loading a fair bit. Options / Memory.

Is the "how to" process for batch saving in the manual or an NI video?trusampler wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 6:42 pm Anytime I upgrade to a new Kontakt version. I always Batch Resave the libraries.

I found an older instruction on this in the NI library, has the process changed with K8?
Thanks

Are your libraries stored on SSD’s? That makes a huge impact on loading times.BERFAB wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 6:09 pm I see a few people here have reported faster library load times. For the standard "Play" and smaller libraries, I see about the same. But some of these libraries are so huge--50 to 75 gigs--they take forever. Lores, Fables, Kithara and Sunburst Acoustic all don't even indicate that they're loading at first. And then, once they do, I go make a cup of tea and hopefully it's loaded when I get back.
Running in the latest Cubase, without problems for any of my other 3rd party plugs. Is there something in the Options page that I need to check off to get the max performance?
Cheers

No. It's admittedly an older system that was custom built for me. Rarely crashes and has about 9 tb of drive space built in.BJ wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 11:55 pm

Would external SSD drives (USB) be any better?

I have an older system too that’s still going strong. Do you have usb3 ports? I got 2 2tb Samsung T7 Shield portable usb SSD’s last year, put all the audio data on there and it was insane how much the loading speeds increased. If you do get portable ssd’s make sure they always have the same fixed drive letter and are on at all time (no power savings).BERFAB wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2024 12:12 amNo. It's admittedly an older system that was custom built for me. Does anyone have Kontakt 8 full or player version and the Progressive Trance Leap expansion and would do a quick functionality test? If so, please check in the 'Edit' tab (top right) and then the 'Sound' tab (middle left) and let me know if the 'Reso' knob behaves correctly?
Until forever fades away.

Hey, mate. I just checked, and no, it doesn't behave correctly. The Reso knob seems to be connected to the "Selected Sample" parameter, according to the container in Bitwig. Also, the Cutoff knob seems to be connected to the "Play Mode" parameter. Is that what you're seeing?Choikdoi wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 11:50 am Does anyone have Kontakt 8 full or player version and the Progressive Trance Leap expansion and would do a quick functionality test? Hey, thanks for clarifying that! Yeah, that was what I was seeing. Although, I hadn't yet noticed the Cutoff knob issue because it only happens at the 50% value. Just wanted to check because it's taking forever with NI support and they haven't even acknowledged an issue with it yet. I'll update them. Wow, seriously? I’m inclined to believe you, but are there any tests that demonstrate this, or official info, anything like that?noiseboyuk wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 6:57 pmin my experience Kontakt can't make use of extra NVMe speeds over SSD.

Kontakt 8 still sucks so hard being so slow to load. this is just bad.... i thought it gets really faster, i just compared it with Kontakt 5. guess Kontakt 9 will be 1 sec faster lol.
adding more and more stuff to Kontakt and making it such a pain to load, great progress...

This is overkill, you don't need to do this on every Kontakt update. Only once is sufficient.trusampler wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 6:42 pm Anytime I upgrade to a new Kontakt version. I always Batch Resave the libraries.

Kontakt's disk streaming code is from 20 years ago, it was optimized for spinning rust, not SSDs.kvotchin wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 7:01 amWow, seriously? My NVME and m2 drives load way faster than SSD. The problem with plugin loading and large library loading is related to the database (I was told by NI). Kontakt will basically hang, under some circumstances, and then it will kick in and load very fast.
