I can listen to days worth of Severed Heads (except Gigapuss - that was LAME!) - But Skinny Puppy, maybe a couple of songs and that's it. (I think the only song I have of their's is Meat Wagon?) But yeah, the tempo, the vocals, the style.....

But then same goes for 'death metal' and 'pop' I suppose? Diss Danzig, but Motorhead are 'the GODS'
Diss Lionel Ritchie, but all praise to Barry Manillow....

Diss Novakill - but all nods to KMFDM. :-o

I feel sorry for VNV Nation in a way cause they take the flack for all the bands who have copied them.

"Empires" had a pretty original sound (for that scene) and it's funny how the trance elements suddenly made their way into every industrial/darkwave band's sound one way or another after it was a hit.

And yes most people into that stuff can easily tell the difference between Assemblage 23 and Covenant but i think the original point I was trying to make is that (imho) the "industrial" scene is none the better for having hundreds of goths starting bands and trying to be Ferry Corsten.

If you look at the Wave-Gotik Treffen thread you'll see that we are looking for promoters, trying to put a tour together. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't. The people that actually enjoy the genre gives cred where cred is due :) (The masters being Icon Of Coil and Neuroticfish, imo :))

im not sure what exactly caused the demise of quasimidi, but one of the guys behind the company is putting together a new (rather expensive) synth. http://www.radikaltechnologies.com/

also, electrix are returning

im still saddened about waldorf though. they were such a cool company.

very cool, BONES. (Even cooler that's your real name) Glad you keep it real, even when you're a pain in the ass - seems to be a method to your madness!

I think your image (w/o the glasses - but I guess they probably do help set the mood on stage) helps to deconstruct the music/media machine.

very impressive to to see you on stage with only your comp. How much horsepower do you need to run that live? cpu/mem?
..what goes around comes around..

the true predecessors of the FuturePop genre are Front 242.

Personally I think it's got more to do with goths taking pills instead of amphetamines, and going wild for the Access Virus presets.

Dunno, most goths here dislike most kind of ebm and futurepop :)

Yes, since they like goth music, not synth/ebm/futurepop/powernoise etc.

Please excuse my UK perspective.

I could swear I saw at least one goth watching VNV Nation when they played Leipzig tho.

I know that it's very different in different in different countries, that's why I said "here" :) I often dj at different synth clubs, and I do remixes for various synth (-pop, ebm, futurepop) bands every now and then. Most of my friends are into this kind of music. There are several goth clubs in this town. I know no-one that regularly goes to any of them. It's two totally separate scenes here in sweden, and atm it's kinda 2.5 going towards three different scenes. [/list]
