Fine tune needed. Or would that be heresy?

Or would putting it through some Scream Machine Distortion followed by some Space Temple Reverb be heresy?

Play it right and it sounds more like Hendrix.

Just one step away from the sublime.

very impressive, thanks for sharing. I like the sound of this + it's quick to go when you've got a loop going... that'll have it chosen over sample based offers many times.

bburtin, you could just give sfz a try along with a few free soundfonts, like my Rhodes and the wurlie at sullivang.net. Of course, if you're happy with MrRay, never mind. I made one adjustment to Sullivan's wurlie, setting the release time -- he prefers a very short release, like clav.

I had a hardware sampler too. Software is way better! The time consuming part is finding the ones that are good. EXSC is pretty good, but there are differences between sampler prog cababilities. For example, soundfonts don't have a control for applying velocity to filter (sheesh, what an omission!) This is less of a problem with well-layerd soundfonts.

I had two hardware samplers, an Akai S2000 and a Yamaha A3000, both given away and well replaced by a laptop + some good software (EnergyXT etc..)

I'll never buy an hardware sampler again.

Actually I still have a Roland S330 laying in my wardrobe (hidden behind jackets and shirts!) but never used it either. Too much time consuming, too much limited for nowadays' standards.

The money investment isn't negligible either. If I wanted to get Kontakt and Scarbee I'd be out like $600 just for a high-quality Rhodes sound. It would be great if I could use sfz, but unfortunately most commercial sample sets don't support it. I don't know if there's a way to guarantee that a converted instrument would sound the same with sfz as the native sampler. Maybe ESC really is that good (is it?), but I haven't taken the time to play around with it.
The entire Scarbee vintage keyboard collection will be 449 with Halion 3 sample player included! (Rhodes, Wurly, + Clav)

You gotta play it through a 20k rig to feel the force of it to the max. This can only be felt when playing live. No loops. No samples. Just pure self indulgence.

If you wanna know the other plugs, I was using Vintage Warmer in guitar mode plus 2 seperate Reaktor4 ensembles, the Bannanm Electrique plus the Stereo Space reverb. You put anything through those fellas in the right order and provided you play it right you'll sound like GOD flying at warp speed on a sonic cloud of oblivion.

Back on track:
The "MrRay73" is quite nice for a thursday afternoon. I don't think it has the edge or bite over the Scarbee.
But then again it's FREE and the minimal CPU load can't be beat. Who can argue with that.

Little A/B comparison between the Dusty Electric MK II and MrRay73:

ZioKiller,

I found this late and the link to download your latest gem doesn't work anymore. Any chance you could put it up again?

Thanks for all of the great stuff you make and provide for free -- I've downloaded Mr Ray and some of your other stuff in the past. You are very talented and the synths and samples are very appreciated.

As I already said in a prevoius post:

(maybe) :?

Very very good emulation, thanks for sharing Mr Ray, cool name BTW!

Found this.

Mr Ray plays perfectly fine on MiniHost

But listen HERE to see what happens on FL Studio :(

It seems like a resonance in F is beeing summed on each note play, on the mp3 you'll hear sound drops on the middle (second 8 ), that was me resetting sound before playing again.

Post

AFAIK, It makes that noise in FL Studio and in Orion. I still haven't found what causes it, though.

Sorry :?

wow! this sounds really, really good. I think it's close to perfect. Only the sustained sound seems to be a little to 'even'. There's seems to be a small tremelo repetition in the sustain which I really like but it's the same over the whole keyrange. One cool trick would be to use different amounts of this in a little random order. It shouldn't sound like a tremelo of course but just a little 'wobbling' or small modulation to make the sound come alive.

but other than that... wow!!!
Kind regards,

Zio, can you add a knob for velocity response? or are you using some kind of values table?

hope you fix the sound on FL because this plug really sounds good.
