Are you a composer or a technoid?

Very entertaining (while partially making me sad) stories of selfexperience, McLilith! Keem them coming!
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I was actually afraid that I might have bored everyone with my verbose ramblings.
Thanks,

lol. No, not boring at all. And actually great inspiration for nice blues tunes... The average virtuoso blues and The one tone organ blues
My only comment would be that it distracts from Whyterabbyt's discussion with Jens and Greg
(I don't say if that's good or bad).

i agree, i can say by my side that i was seriously at first into sound designing rather than playing and composing ...Lunatique wrote:One should ALWAYS be a composer first, technoid second. If you get that priority wrong, then you shouldn't be calling yourself a musician--rather, call yourself a sound designer instead.
...i think that helps to compensate some lacks of knowledges as composer to devellop an esthetic sense with sound designing in situation.

Okay fellows, I have one more true story of personal experience for tonight. I have this one on a separate web page:HansM wrote:lol. No, not boring at all. And actually great inspiration for nice blues tunes... The average virtuoso blues and The one tone organ blues![]()

(That page is optimized slightly for Mozilla-based web browsers, but perfectly viewable in MSIE.)
If you click the page title, or the logo at the page's bottom, you will start an MP3 download of some of my music, which I think is appropriate for the title of this story. In fact, you might want to click the link hidden in the page title or the logo, and start the music playing before you read the page.
Hans, this should fit really well with your idea of writing music based on my stories. Let me know what you think of this combination.
Oh, whyterabbyt and friends, maybe that web page can help you determine if I am a composer, a musician, or anything remotely related. (Just to keep this more on-topic.)
take care,
McLilith

That is GOOD! imhoMy only comment would be that it distracts from Whyterabbyt's discussion with Jens and Greg Wink (I don't say if that's good or bad).

So, Whyterabbit, when did it become a "mistake" to agree with somebody else's statement? Let Lunatique and Jens have their own opinions, just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean they should shut up.whyterabbyt wrote: Agreed.
You did make that mistake.

This is starting to sound like my old philosophy:
"All things are, and are not, in the same time and space."

As with many things, you either know where they are, or how fast they're going, it's hard to know both, and sometimes impossible. Translated to music: Either you go with the flow and experience the music, or you listen to the structure and the harmonies and the mix. (Applied quantum physics
