Hey, this is just Cake's first stab at it. I am sure it will be further refined, as it develops. It is not designed to be a Session View clone. The Session View is what Live does best. There is more to the Groove Matrix once you start to get below the surface and dig a little deeper. It has some of it's own unique features as well. Add P5's Cyclone DXi loop mangling tool to the mix, Device chains, advanced arpegiators, etc. and you can get really radical. Some additional advanced tips on using the GM are being posted by Cake reps, on this thread:

It's not a question of paying attention, it's a question of being realistic in terms of what you can expect from a program in successive upgrades. One could easily say the same thing about Live's first midi editor and start comparing it to that of Cubase, or pretty much every other major program that had midi before AL4.

Similarly, I expect the midi in AL5 to be alot better too.
