The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

:lol: No serious. That's what I do :wink:

Even more serious, I don't even know most of the time. If I like it I make it.

The more "cultivated" description would probably be Avant garde. In English it means self indulgent bullshit.

{edit: looking through my list of songs over the last few years there are some bluesey tunes, a few beats, many filmy soundscapes, 2 vurtologies, some folk, :-o I even have a few trash-pop songs}

If you're doing what you like, that's got to be good on some level. Sure hope so, or I've no justification at all... :-D

I would say most of us here at KvR are making music for ourselves and hope somebody else do appreciate it as well. I do not think I am special in that way.

BUT - let's face it - there are not a bunch of teenee boppers queing up to buy my next CD release. :cry:

That is Tugger's speciality :lol:

[edit: don't forget Krim and Solida. I still have a few MB samples of cries and snorts supplied by them.]

Is everyone really making avant garde/experimental stuff? Or started out recently? Or just being funny?

Personally, I probably do a few to many genres but I'm aware of the genres though.
Breakbeat, Goa Trance, RnB, Orchestral (film score-ish).
Well, I'm not just starting out, and I have absolutely NO focus on any specific genre. And I can tell you it's 95% non-experimental :P but the 5% is what makes my music more interesting than some. Basically, I just make MUSIC - a lot of my music tends to have a dancey beat because that kind of stuff is fun, but it doesn't have to. I try to make the best music that I can!, not the strangest sounds I've ever heard.

Post

maybe half my stuff is indie pop vocal stuff
the rest is divided among my attempts at big beat, glitch or ambiant.

Post

My solo works - Breaks, Broken Beat, and Downtempo.
My band work (RnA) - Electro-pop/rock/dance
