So is WK open to this idea? The more I think about it, the more I think that whatever the final disposition is, the people who he owes money to have to be paid first.

Looks better than some of the open source I've had to mess with ...

Not much you can tell from that snippet of initilization code other than "No documentation".jtxx000 wrote:ok for the people wondering how the readability / documentation of the code is william sent an example:

The SSE vectorized code could/should be a lot more confusing.

You don't know where WilliamK's money is going. Just because WilliamK can't (possibly can't) keep the business going doesn't mean someone else couldn't. Being a talented programmer doesn't make you are a saavy business owner. Right?Hunter wrote:$12000 for the code of a product that is already in existence and widely distributed, and not generating enough money for the obviously very talented programmer to keep the business going?
...hmmm...
I paid $29.95 for v1.2, that ended being for WusikMOD, that ended up being for....
I would be willing to contribute (maybe quite a bit) to keep the project going whichever way it goes. I love surprises.

I'd think that all of you grouping your funds would be concerned he'd pull yet another bait and switch on you - not turning over all the code or the like. Then leveraging from that position.
Just be careful, guys.
I think your collective energies would be better spent developing a new product with similar characteristics from scratch. You could even open source the result. Obviously, there are loads of very capable devs here.
My 2 cents.

That code sample is actually not really representative ...
And yes, normally C++ code looks like that...
Fortunately he is using OOP style, which may make it esier to maintain.

Just a thought - but you people are talking about handing over $12,000 to someone who's known for having hair-brained schemes, sending out spam, ripping people off, not delivering the goods, doing generally bad business and who, ultimately, lives on the other side of a computer screen.
Does anybody have the guy's real world address? If so, how can you be sure it's real?
"Uh, yeah, thanks for this 12K, I'm off to the sunny Dominican Republic now. See ya suckers!"
I'd exercise caution at this stage is all I'm saying.
What's that phrase again? Something about dead and horses and flogging...

Also, to do things properly, so that investors are protected would mean employing legal-beagles.
They're not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.
Who would actually pay that? WK or the investors?
Is this in addition to the buy-out price or something the seller would have to deal with by having those expenses deducted from the net payment?

Except when the programmer knows better than to use lots of globals...jackle&hyde wrote:And yes, normally C++ code looks like that...
Or when the programmer knows better than to declare huge wasteful static arrays...
Or when the programmer knows how to break code up into readable functions...
Or when the programmer knows that comments are a good thing...
Or when the programmer knows how to write useful constructors...
Or knows to create arrays of structures rather than structures of arrays...
[EDIT: okay, that last one isn't bad in the voice-data case - structures of arrays lend themselves better to SSE optimization.]
