As soon as there's even the smallest of consensus reached, I guess.
Might be worth considering that while people are getting their heads around this, thinking business models and whatnot, those who are interested, submit material one way or the other and we run some test broadcasts and see what happens.
Like I said... community projects tend to drag on for long when things could be so much simpler.
I'm afraid I'm still seeing this as a KVR thing, not a public thing aiming for the masses. In such a case, I can't be of assistance.
Regards,
JMH

I voted yes. Everything available on my home page at www.chaosresearch.de is free to use. If you want stuff from the upcoming 2 albums, please contact me!
(The upcoming albums, coming out in few months are "Traveller of the Spheres" released exclusively in Europe only and "Revelations" released exclusively in Japan only.)

I have Pm'ed a few people regarding this project and am waiting on replies.
JMh: What is the max concurrent users you can handle? This is important before we go any further. I'd like to try streaming to your server( I've never done this before). Can we try this out?
Regardless of the system we use, the servers, whether it is commercial or not etc etc. We have to get a group together. So I'm putting my name forward until someone more suitable takes over. I'm merely interested in getting the group together, but I do have time on my hands to help maintain this project and will help in any way I can.
Please PM me if you
a)object
b)nominate yourself or somebody else
c)would like to volunteer.
I am suggesting PM so as to avoid future awkwardness or embarressment (especially where nominating somewhen else or objecting for that matter).
fyi: check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/hosts/

it all sounds great. i'm sure if jmh is all happy with his server/bandwidth issues then there's little to worry about there.
as far as material goes, of course it's going to be limited in some ways, but then radio 1 does only play the same chart songs on cycle
if the bandwidth is there to be used when there are no scheduled/recorded DJ shows and specific sets then there's not a problem in the world for it to be on autojock mode - if it's there and not going to suffer, what's the harm in spitting something out instead of silence? there's still the odd chance that some unkown kvr-er could get a new fan in a bored browser!
for programming material, perhaps one good regular 'feature' could be a contest roundup. every month there could be a chart of the final entries, leading up to the three winners. and there could be a 'historical' show too, showcasing the tracks from older contests.
and every other day we can fill the whole schedule with one of vurt's tracks!

i'd certainly be up for allowing my music to play on kvr-radio. as long as i didn't get shafted for it!
heck, we could even have audio tutorial shows by us boffins who like to teach!

Great idea!!! I'd love to hear tracks before and after eq'ing with exactly what was done and why. People who can't eq could send tunes to "the doctor hour" and see how the masters would do it.haydxn wrote:

The possibilites are endless!!!

SectionZ do stuff like that, tutorials I mean
As to content - K-v-R has masses - but as an electronic based forum revolving a lot around vsti - stuff and ideas get dated pretty quick as new technology (computers for one) enable the artist more abilitys almost every six months. So yes there is a lot of content - but upto date content is a little more diffcult to fill. also the style here is mainly ambi type tracks - So really your target audiance is k-v-r - what benifit is this over other radio stations?
For sure though it would be a fun addition to k-v-r though you would limited to k-v-r and its userbase by the looks of this thread. A kind of small project with not a lot of scope - which counts me out of the loop for this idea - but as I say I think k-v-r visitors and members will have fun with it.
Also shoutcast is the way I guess
Best regards,
Spe3d

Sorry, my mental connection is permanently disabled - isn't that obvious already?cptgone wrote:I've just sent you a telepathic message.

If we pull this through, the only working solution is of course uploading the files via ftp, along with a text file of all the necessary details, which would be:
1. Artist name
2. Track title
3. URL to the artist's site/pages
...
x. artist's email address (for the maintainers of the radio station in case there's something)
Haydxn Good ideas
As for the rest... I've PMed Techbot about this. It'll be so much easier - at least for my nerves!
Other details will be leaked out little by little
Meanwhile, I've talked to our tech folks and we're exploring some additions to things I've mentioned before. So... stay tuned. And if you have anything constructive to say, please continue posting. If not... I'll accept links to pictures of Jessica Alba's see-through clothing worn at some movie award thing recently
Regards,
JMH
