This is as metal as it gets. The Body Rot delivers wicked sustain with tones that rival a stack of amps.

New for 2005 is a tone control, offering a wide range of flavors.

From screaming leads to crushing rhythm work the Body Rot can deliver the goods.

Rick Gram "Tone-Zone" Woman Tone Overdrive:

If you want an overdrive pedal that does not change your playing dynamics, look no further. The WOMAN TONE pedal provides a nice open overdrive without all the hiss and noise that other units are plagued with. The effect is subtle and tasteful, so if you're looking for a discordant sound with enough harmonics to cover your mistakes then look elsewhere. TONE ZONE pedals are for musicians that want to play and sound their best.

The WOMAN TONE is an overdrive type effect. The pedal is used to make the amplifier create power stage distortion. It has a brown seductive tone much like that of Eric Clapton during his days with John Mayall and then Cream. The GAIN control is very subtle and is used to match various guitars with various amplifiers. The control is set so that when a string is played hard you get the DIRT and when played softly the sound is cleaned up. It is also set so when guitar volume is high overdrive is generated and when guitar volume is reduced the sound cleans up. The WOMAN TONE overdrive pedal does not create a lot of sustain, and overdrive levels are subtle. You have to DIG IN and PLAY and get the sound from your fingers. This pedal does not hide what you play behind a lot of harmonics. Open chords can be played without sounding discordant!

I would think the "Woman Tone" overdrive would have a nasty hissing, sneering, effect with a bit of screeching, but then I'm divorced.

This test has shown that I pretty much like all of them. I think that most amp sims can nail a decent clean amp. I think that hi gain/overdrive/all out distortion is where most amp sims fail miserably.

Post

that woman tone thing, is nt that the same kind of distortion as a BOSS DS-1? exepct the fact that is not an overdrive

Post

You are definitely right Stupid American Pig, I can use any modeler and play clean. We need a good hard driving dirty solution. I'm hoping either Waves GTR or Amplitube 2 can do it with authenticity.

Right...time for a "post yer hi gain sounds" thread, then?

OK two samples from what I consider the strongest point of Waves GTR, the so called Edgy Amp:

Hello everybody,

nice to see this thread is still alive. I wasn't here for a while (vacation) but I'm back now.

I have just added the G-Amp (thank you IainF) to the list and added a new list "NOT CLEAN" (thank you Andrew).
I'm not convinced that my Fender clip is suitable for distortion sounds (maybe different post) but if you want to play, why not.

.... and
Donbarzini and Stupid American Pig I don't agree with you. As you can see from this example very different clean sounds, don't you think so. Some are good and some are bad (not good). I'm very particular about my clean sound and I'm not satisfied with just any amp sim.

Hello Iain,

congratulation for your new site and a very good job on the G-Amp Classic. I'm honoured you are using my clip as a demo for your G-Amp Classic.

Keep up the good work.

Didn't I suggest the high-gain test like a month ago? Where have you all been?

That was probably my fault. I thought my fender clip is no good for high-gain test but if you would like to have a go, why not.
Or better yet start a new thread. I would do it but I'm no good at high-gain sounds.

I'm getting some really amazing results running SimulAnalog JCM900 and Izotope Trash with various presets (very often the "Boston" preset) in parallel, then I run it through Kjaerhus GMO-1 for more dimension. I jump up the mids with NWEQ and use various reverbs (Princeton being one of them) and finally the GPP-1 limiter for hugeness. I'm getting a crunchy chord sound that is scary close to real sounding, with just a bit more of the digital "fiz" highs than a real mic'ed amp would have (obviously) . I will post some mp3's here before long.
Here is my small version:
