Nice. :D
As much as people like to make fun of the piece, I think if we all took the time to "perfom" it for ourselves more often and listen to the sounds that surround us at all times, we'd be much better for it.

I agree, but I really can't stand the subject. In fact the other day I thought about making a thread about 4'33". It wasn't witty or funny or clever when it was concieved and I don't think it was witty or funny or clever now. People talk about it as if whats his name is a genious for coming up with it. I thought maybe there is some back story to it to make it notable but I searched for a while and found nothing.

However, I saw the dallas symphony orchestra "perform" it, and it was the song that played right before the break to dinner (I saw it in dallas' massive badass amphitheatre that is also a great restaurant). Since 4'33" pisses me off I left for a piss, and was surprised to see that the buffet had opened just as I walked out, so I and who I presumed were other 3'44" haters got first dibbs.

To each their own. I s'pose.

Another mixed bag for you lot…

DID ANYONE SAY DRUMMING?

This is sabar, royal senegalese drum from the Wolof people, and tama (senegalese talking drum)

This is the style of rythm from which Mbalax senegalese popular music derives, which such stars as Youssou N'Dour , Thione Seck...

i like this music very much,if you want to see the dance LOOK THIS:

very WILD AND CRAZY DANCE :D

Excellent!
I saw Thiom Seck in Dakar once, and Youssou's wife Vivianne N'Dour a couple of days later. I had tickets to see Youssou, but apparently the mother of one of the musicians died that day and they all went over to pay the family respect and had to cancel.

Live music in Dakar clubs is probably the best nights out you can have anywhere. Absolutely awesome! (they start late and last until morning, so no good if you have work the next day...)

Thanks for this!

I posted some pics of a drum 'factory' in Dakar over at the Auditorium a while back: http://www.the-auditoriums.net/auditori ... .php?t=646
