I have my particular favorite dishes just like I have my favorite drum kits, drummers or use of studio equipment. This combined with this = this. The recipe for getting a Ringo drum sound using Telefunken V72's or REDD 47's, AKG D19s, D20 and a Downbeat 60's Black Oyster Pearl set is not THAT much different to me in a certain respect to cooking up some chicken thighs marinating in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, basil, oregano and a little lemon and balsamic (bought from right down the street from IK in Modena Italy! That is where they make the famous Balsamic Vinegar btw). Okay, I am getting yelled at. There's only so much "it needs to marinate" (an excuse to come back here and post) that I can get away with. This is more fun to me than watching TV though I have to say. Proably the same for some of you I imagine.

Is anyone here using EZ Player Pro? I get the impression from the website and video that it requires Toontrack Solo if you want to actually hear the midi play? Is there a way to have EZ Player Pro trigger the samples from IP (i.e. Kontakt)? If not, how would you hear the arrangements you are creating?

It looks like really great software if you already own EZ Drummer but I don't see how this would work with IP kits and this group buy

It says that it will work with whatever VI plugin or external MIDI module that you connect it to (i.e. anything that can play MIDI can be selected as the device you want to trigger).

Let me tell you something. That was delish! I've never made it like that before. I would normally have done it with sesame oil and ginger for an Asian style lettuce cup which is more traditional perhaps. But shaving some parmesan cheese on it really made it and the Italian seasonings just made it AWESOME!

Now, let me segue this to the group buy. It's all about mixing the FLAVORS of sounds. Same concept. What might not normally go together may work JUST RIGHT for your song. My goal is to provide a diversity of flavors. In THIS bundle there is a nice broad diversity of studio sounds to experiment with but we have also done that for you as well. So the resulting mix of the elements may very well be what some of you (from the sound of it) may like the most!

For example, I could get you some really good ingredients but you might not cook up the same thing I would. Bottom line for you is, I think DM1 users that are interested in a lot of ready to go presets and a variety of samples and impulses they don't already have... they should get this as the free update patches they're going to get do not include THIS. Maybe that's all I needed to say!

I have Drum Masters Gold (and a bunch of other IP drum samples) and OWD DL. I'm trying to decide whether I should join this GB or not. Will there be a paid upgrade to DM2 available? If so, how much will it cost and what will it include? If I remember correctly, the same additional samples are included in both the upgrade and this GB, is there some overlap in the other content?

Great question and what I think I will do is make a thread in our company forum with many details of what is NEW compared to DM 1 Silver, Gold or Platinum. There will be paid upgrades to DM2 but since there is no Silver or Gold (just a regular Drum Masters 2 and a Drum Masters 2 Platinum - for multitracks and the stereos are now these quasi-multitrack Signature Kit series and there are many new samples involved) there will need to be some creative upgrading. But we'll spell it all out as clearly as possible.

EZPro is an awesome little app that is well worth its $50 sticker price (and which you'll most likely get FREE here). The concept is essentially a universal MIDI format translator which can take MIDI loops written for, say, Drumcore, and instantly convert them to GM for use with your favorite Kontakt kit. OR it can take a GM MIDI file and convert it to IMAP for use with your favorite Sampletank kit, or OWD or DM in IMAP mode.

The CM freebie this month (quite good, BTW) does not, AFAIK, have the full translator function and simply includes some MIDI files for use with the included drum kits.

But the EZPlayerPRO works with most of the popular drum vst formats (Imap, GM, Drumcore, Extended IMap, BFD, EZDrummer, etc.--with more formats added every now and again) and allows you to play and edit midi files right in the app, or you can easily drag 'n' drop right to your DAW.

Oh, and it comes with 1,000 very useful and organized midi loops of various styles.
