These guys are all proven programmers of software, it's going to come out.
Even though it makes for people being antsy, I would rather they iron out as many bugs as they can before releasing.
No Native Instruments from 5 years ago routine of releasing things to get beta testers to pay to have the honor to test their software for me anymore please.
They are not just ironing our bugs, but also still coding functionality intended to be in v1.

Oh well, I'm willing to be patient, until Bitwig Studio is finally released to evaluate it against Live 9, and then pull the trigger on the one that I feel is the best, or most suitable DAW for my taste. Who knows, I might end up getting Live 9But.. I doubt it.
Hopefully, Bitwig Studio will be released during Summer 2013.

I don't expect Bitwig, even if released this summer, to be fully ready for a year after initial release. I upgraded to Live 9 and will get plenty of use out of it in the meanwhile.

So you decided not to bother waiting ... I don't blame you, there are so many uncertainties with BW-Studio, when it will be released, what we can expect in BWS-Version 1 ? how long it will take them to move forward to version 2 ? ... etc. etc., It's so much easier to go with Live 9 instead of waiting for the Bitwigs DAW.pdxindy wrote:Muziksculp wrote:Now that Live 9 is finally available, I wonder who else here is holding back on buying Live 9 because Bitwig Studio might be a much better option (but... But.. Then again, I'm currently happy with Cubase 7, and will begin using Studio One Pro 2 in the near future. So, lots options until BWS is out.
I also wonder how many Live 9 users will be tempted to buy BWStudio when it is finally released

I'm not holding my breath in anticipation but I am going to wait to see what BWS has to offer before I upgrade to Live 9. I've been with Live for a while and 8 works for me. In addition, I didn't find much in the beta that makes me want to upgrade. But I'm not looking to jump ship from Live. I may skip this version though and wait for the next. And in the meanwhile (even though they didn't pick me to beta test even though I signed up for their newsletter about 3 years ago) I'd like to see what they can come up with. If for no other reason than Live definitely needs some competition. The only other thing I've seen before that came close was cakewalk's Project 5. So I hope somebody jumps into that end of the pool.

No point to wait... It could easily be a year and the cost for Live 9 is small in the bigger picture.
Also, there is no indication that Bitwig will have anything comparable to Live's racks. There is a main feature list that looks good, by we don't know at this point what things Live has that will not be in BWS (besides racks). There is plenty that is unknown. With no guarantee that I would even want to switch, it seems foolish to wait around.
Since you mentioned Studio One, that has been out for quite a while, and developed by a company with significant resources, and it still has needed some updates to fill in some obvious deficiencies. I think it is unrealistic to expect a small start up company to have a well rounded DAW right from v1

I'm with you BTW on the live 9 thing, if I wouldn't have gotten mine as a "free" upgrade, I couldn't care less. Many of my projects are started in 9 though, so it's like wth.

It will have racks! It in their FB and they even given some detail IIRC, or give a closer look at their devices screeshoots in the website (use a lot of zoompdxindy wrote: No point to wait... It could easily be a year and the cost for Live 9 is small in the bigger picture.

From the looks of it I guess that you should be able to do some sound design stuff like you can do on Zebra "lite version"(although not really comparable each BWS device with the modules of Zebra that should be quite different in the oscilators parts, more of that on v2 I guess).

You got a link? I have not seen anything that indicated to me that BWS will have rackspc999 wrote:It will have racks! Look at the comments/"QA" sessions, I remember there is one where they explicit say that you can do anything you do in Live IIRC, but you will need to look for yourselfpdxindy wrote:

I can understand they chose a dark skin for live/dark club usage..
However, I wish they'd have made a lighter GUI for production usage.. that dark scheme is going to be hard on the eyes in a bright room.. and/or I'll have to adjust my monitor specifically for this application.
From FB readings, I don't think they are planning any other color schemes.. nor does it seem it will be manually adjustable..

I'm not a big fan of Live 9's GUI color scheme. Would rather use a dark GUI, and Orange + Grey is pretty classy looking, not sure it would bother me if I had to look at it for extended hours in a well lighted studio, plus, you can always dim your studio lights (helps you get in the mood of composing)
I'm hoping that the Bitwigs begin sharing more info. with us, showing more of what BWS offers in detail, before it is released. So far they have been sharing info. about it via a dropper, so hopefully that will change as we move forward.
