Hey, a person died because of sqrt(2) once...
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

Thanks for commenting Sean, I will be buying V3 soon. It is too nice not to have. I haven't been doing much mixing lately so I just been playing with the demo live. When I start mixing again this will be out of demo mode.valhallasound wrote:Thanks for posting the example!frankjcc2003 wrote:The new Sanctuary algo is nice, Dark pad preset 50% wet and still in demo mode for now.

It is interesting to hear the piano through Sanctuary. Many digital reverbs (including the majority of the VintageVerb reverb modes) use randomized delay modulation. This produces a lush decay, but can cause pitch warbles on musical instruments with steady pitches, such as guitar and piano. You can hear these warbles in this recording of the Narcissus mode of ValhallaRoom:

Sanctuary was designed to have "detuned" modulation. I've used this in the past, but not as extensively as I did in Sanctuary. The results are a reverb that has a LOT of chorusing, but a fairly steady sense of pitch, even for longer decays. I don't like the sound of Sanctuary on acoustic guitar (too "produced" for my taste), but I really like the sound on clean electric guitar, and your piano example sounds great to my ears.
I should note that pitch warbles aren't necessarily a bad thing. At all. The original EMT250 had randomized modulation, as did the Lexicon 224, and all sorts of great ambient music was produced by playing piano through these reverbs. However, having a choice between randomized delay modulation and detuning modulation seems like a good idea, so ValhallaVintageVerb has both now (as well as the modulation used in Random Space, which has nothing to do with delay modulation).

I hope this thread can get back on topic.

6.66 is 659.34 away from 666... not even close to the same number...

That sounds nice. VVV is the one Valhalla reverb that I don't have, but these demos and, especially, the new Sanctuary algorithm are probably going to change that.frankjcc2003 wrote:The new Sanctuary algo is nice, Dark pad preset 50% wet and still in demo mode for now.

Can we just drop the religious debate here, please?pdxindy wrote:frankjcc2003 wrote: Funny thing is in Vroom, in the Bright Room algo, there is a preset called AbbeyChurchOfFossanova and the decay time is 6.61, It is obvious that someone went out of their way to make sure that when they saw what 2/3 of 10 was, they altered the number just a bit.

To be fair, we should stop talking about this numerology + religious discussion altogether and take it to some other thread since this is thread for VVV really, not something I would want be hijacked.cryophonik wrote:That sounds nice. I will be honest -- I don't like any other Valhalla plugs. I know they sound good, but they sounded bad to me (you know what I mean?) But VVV changed everything. This sounds really good, and it sounds really good to me.
Reverbs have many uses in mixing and VVV fills few of them quite perfectly. I sometimes feel some reverb creators don't grasp the concept of what an "effect" is. VVV is an effect, and a reverb, and I like that.

Most KVR threads used to be something else at one time. Remember the chihuahua from Dog Hotel? Reincarnated. [e] Actually it was called Hotel For Dogs, I think. Anyway it's a great reverb, definitely getting the vintage vibe.hibidy wrote:Most kvr thread used to be about something else at one timepaterpeter wrote:You know, this thread was once about a great sounding reverb.

Yes sir. I am more inclined to believe this than anything today's religions preach. Also, someone can not believe anything that a religion has to offer, but still be spiritual.EvilDragon wrote:So are almost all religions with the exception of buddhism and shintoism.TheoM wrote:valhalla is just myth
