MIDI out in Reason made very little sense until it supported full audio track recording. You can't just add functionality like that without being able to bring the audio back in. I like that the External MIDI Instrument is lean and doesn't take up too much rack space. It's very useful this way, becoming a flexible modular tool for many different purposes. You can add as many as you like, throw them in combinators, note/gate them with Matrix sequencers, route CV out of Reason, etc...

does anybody find it ridiculous when you buy a refill with combinators (i just use the native synth patches and fx from refills not the combis) and when you load the combinator, it has like 3-4 synth layers, like 8 or even many more as is often the case fx to what amounts to a very mundane sound and unnecessary cpu use which a much more talented developer could do with one layer and minimum fx. ill respect the developers who do this by not mentioning any names but cmon, that is extremely unprofessional for a product your charging people money for.

Meh.. There's practically thousands of Refills out there - you're bound to find many that are just poorly constructed Combi. Patch design is a skill, a gift - some people have it; some don't. Us buying product that has masterly constructed Combi is luck of the draw, IMHO.

This being said I have all these stems from the original band, imported them but would like to select all channels in the mixer and turn down the level of all of them at once. A workaround would be to route them all to a bus, but I usually start out with things set to -6dB or so, delete the stuff I don't use and add my own stuff to it. In Live I select all the tracks, click on one track, type in -6dB and I am done. In Reason it seems I have to select each individual channel in the mixer and drag it down to -6dB which is pretty cumbersome. Am I missing something in regards how to change multiple mixer channels together without using a Bus. A bus doesn't make sense because these tracks are all different categories.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken
No way to do this on the mixer. However you should be able to select all the stems in the Sequencer and enter the values you need for the levels there using "Levels" in the Sequencer tool bar.
Dude, excellent advice, thanks! I actually can't believe I didn't think of that. :) It works like a charm!

Ken
Hi,

bear in mind that sequncer's "Level (dB)" parameter is *pre ssl input*.
In other words it is the gain of the audio clip *before* it enters into it's own ssl channel.

Lowering that will affect the amount of signal that passes through ssl strip, insert effects included. That means for example, if you have a compressor in your insert chain, you may need to re-adjust your threshold level accordingly
and so on ...

Ciao

Come on Brent, I sussed that in seconds! Surely you don't get that level of phonetic English from anyone else? ;).

Just a quick thanks to Jeremy at Nucleus for the 'pay what you want' refills offer. I'm new to using refill filters but I think I can get some use out of the level 1 range. Have bookmarked your website for future reference, when my health and employment opportunities improve (fingers crossed), as I'm keen on the Level 2 guitar patch.

 I only figured it out after realizing the extreme run on sentences. You could say I made 'the French connection' ;)

He has come a long way though :)

Hi!!

I have a question about Reason upgrade system.
I have Reason Essentials and i would like to upgrade to Reason! Has Reason is cheaper until 31 December and i can get also 2 RE with the purchase, i would really like to have it!

The problem is that i have already purchase REs and i would like to know if i can transfer the licenses of those RE to my Reason license.

I am very happy about the price. I still hope that the upgrade price for Reason Essentials/Limited... gets lower as the Reason (369€, used to cost 405€) and Reason Essentials (99€, i bought it 120€) prices now have.

Would like to hear from you all!

Thnanks! :)

p.s: Great software Reason is!!

When you buy the upgrade, it will go to your account, so all your REs and both Reason licenses (Essential and 7) will be there.
