I didn't know about the BASTL microGranny (portable granular sampler with mic) until one popped up on the local Craigslist-style market. It had a defect though, so I ordered one from a German shop, Just Music (cheapest one I found). Despite my self isolating, I hope to have fun making samples with the built-in mic, it should be something I can do while my cats have me couch locked.

you where looking for some.
ive just had a few mil tech shemagh (scarves) delivered.
lightweight, but will keep dust off and are fully washable and dry in no time.
also good for nipping to the shop in a pandemic.

(I haven't decided if I want to get any such covers, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind, seems like a good idea)

I just hang it on headstock and it protects the entire guitar, neck and body too.

They don't absorb dust or become static etc. Perfect for everything.

So don't get fooled by some on amazon, which are cloth - and collect dust themselves.
Get the Gator ones, I think they are perfect.

While shopping at justmusic.de I noticed their house brand, Justin.
Seems competitive with Thomann, and some of the products look identical (e.g. gold flat patch cables - those are cheaper at Thomann though). Shopping earns you points, once you have enough you get a % discount on the house brand (and more, if you accumulate enough points).

im sure it will be lots of fun.
as mentioned previous page, ive got the grandpa module, its fairly simple (till the expansion bits arrive) but the sounds it twists are lovely.
send the output to some glitchy pedals :boom!: instant awesome!

I read that, so far I've been able to steer clear of Euro[c]rack though (I'm suffering from phantom pain in the wallet).

What sold me on the Microgranny is the portabilty with built in mic. I don't plan to import samples, just record, then mangle. Also, it seems like a very easy and fast way to introduce spoken word to my soundscapes, in a DAWless fashion.

im sure it will be lots of fun.

they are! because of the 6 channels/triggers and MIDI, its a little bit more of a percussive/rhythm thing than the GranPa, a sorta mini glitch/drum machine.

Plus the micro has the same start/end controls as on the SPA, so if you set it up right you can more or less manually scan through a sample by moving both controls in tandem.

(Which reminds me, I need to work out where the hell my GranPa is, dig it out and finish fixing it.)

ooh, thats cool. grandpa only has the two.
when my chip and spa arrive, i will finally be able to mix it up, choosing diff samples by cv.
although, even as it is, ive had great use of it.

am looking forward to the extra functionality though

I had bought a couple of oversized bandanas when the "wear a mask" advice first began. They weren't great for that... but the ginormous one from Big-Ass Bandanas is perfect for throwing over my modular case and controllers.

id hate to meet the person that requires such huge headgear

but yep, a bandana or scarf, being lighter than a towel, is preferable for the modular, if youve got a patch going, its not too much weight for the cables.

i have hard fronts for 2 of my mantis (wont be buying a third as theyve gone up to over 50 quid

i paid23 gor both of mine) but if theres cables crossing to other cases, cant use them anyway.
more for transporting, not that it looks like ill be gigging again any time soon

I have 150x170 cm to cover though. I'd need at least 4 of the Gators, or 4 scarves/bandanas. A single soft cloth seems like an easier solution (OK it would collect dust but I could easily wash and dry it if the fabric is light enough). I'm considering buying a bed sheet with elastic band instead.
(and that's just my Jaspers rack, I also have a cheap and wobbly wooden multipurpose rack. Another bed sheet then?)

yeah a bedsheet would do it.
you dont have the same cables point up issue either, so weight isnt a big issue
