I used it recently to make a music video for one of my tunes using spout and ableton's "video editing" as a test. This piece doesnt use any of the midi audio features but there are video effects being triggered recursively by notes generated from the videos color profile (all the circles) The plugin is available for beta now at no cost. I would love to get everyone's feedback. Download at chromola.iocryophonik wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 4:24 pm There's also this thread, but it's really just a handful of us posting in it:

I'm interested in learning more about this, since I currently have three music videos in various stages of production (one being planned, one partially recorded, one in production).CHROMOLA wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 4:10 pm Hello new to the forum and Ill be setting up a beta release thread soon for a plugin Ive been developing that fits right in this space.
It uses opencv color spectrum analysis translated to midi cc and notes to use live video as an instrument controller.

Has anybody been following the news of Apple buying Motion VFX? This is pretty huge news for FCPX users. I mostly use Davinci these days, but I own some Motion VFX products and they're top-notch, so that may sway my preference back to FCPX, although it's unclear who will have access to them (subscribers vs owners), if they'll be an added cost, etc.

Not sure what to make of it so far. I saw lots of positive speculation from FCPX users, but as it seems so far, they may have been bought to cut off Davinci support and then possible future development of FCPX tools.cryophonik wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2026 5:28 pm Has anybody been following the news of Apple buying Motion VFX? I have tools from them too, that I only used them in FCPX and now it seems they’re subscription only, and not an Apple bundled subscription, just subscription to use their tools.

Yeah, best case scenario is that they do what they did with Alchemy/Logic and bundle them up for all FCPX owners/subscribers, but that's probably wishful thinking.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Its doing the rounds in various places, but probably worth mentioning here... A couple of After Effects -adjacent motion-graphics type video tools have just become free.
Canva bought Cavalry, and made it free... primarily 2D motion graphics https://cavalry.studio/en/
Maxon bought Autograph, and made it free... 2D and 3D stuff, including compositing and 3d rendering (and USD) https://www.maxon.net/en/autograph
