Truth is though, pretty much any auto sampler, and any conversion might need some tweaking. Still better than nothing, but I would also like Falcon to work with basic unprotected Kontakt files and EXS again.
For me the EXS import works, although the envelopes and other parameters are not correct, at least the mapping seems like fine.

That's great, I couldn't get it to work last night, opened up Logic and the same sample library worked.. You on Intel or Apple Silicon? Also Sequoia here.

I´m on Sonoma.

I had some glitches with some multi velocity patches but the simple ones work ok for sure, also 3rd party presets.

Yes, given Apple's well-documented history of dropping support for various technologies and applications with absolutely no regard for their customers, it *might* be risky to make a long-term bet on Logic Samper / EXS. But I can't see Apple stopping support for Logic (and Logic Sampler), at least not in my lifetime.
I thought the exact same way about Final Cut Pro until they did exactly that and turned it from arguably the best professional digital video editor with very tight hardware and software integration to a consumer level piece of garbage.
I don't know what to tell you regarding Falcon. I suppose keep lobbying UVI to include support for loading EXS instruments? Until then, you could always use ConvertWithMoss to convert EXS instruments into SoundFont 2 or SFZ instruments and then load those into Falcon, which I believe still supports. Correct me if I am wrong, though.

Or just bail on Falcon as I have done and use HALion. I honestly like HALion better, anyway. But I understand how someone could prefer Falcon.
I am just treating Falcon like it's a Rompler and just use it with its factory sample library, and have given up trying to import my own samples. It's an improved JV1080 essentially

As a Rompler it's awesome, it has a bunch of great sounding presets

I have sampled the absolute crap out of Falcon as well. (Just like I did with my JV1080) All of my favorite Falcon presets along with my own patches I rolled myself now happily reside in my Montage, Decent Sampler and HALion7. I even get Sonic Pass from time to time for the sole purpose of just sampling them ;)

Falcon is also very good to make "weird" or "cool" snippets of sound a few seconds to perhaps 15 seconds long that I can then drop into Dawesome Myth, HALion's spectral synth engine, and other resynthesis tools

I personally do not want to see UVI take Falcon into the sampling realm and devote a lot of product development into that area. it's not why I bought Falcon (or Mach 3 originally) in the 1st place. I bought it as a synth and UVI have developed Falcon and added more functionality that I liked but it's been more about adding robust features as a hybrid synth.

EXS is a Apple format and it's proprietary, there are many other formats that are proprietary, hence no universal end all to be all format out there.

Omnisphere, Avenger, Nexus 5 et al, all have their own way of importing and dealing with samples in their synth engines. they all have strengths and weaknesses in their way of doing things. but none of them is a sampler, they are synth engines.

reading that last few pages all I keep thinking is oh for the love of God please , no, no I hope UVI ignore all this banter about sampler in Falcon and don't go in that direction for a few handful of people that have a specific unique fixed way of dealing with themselves and their workflows. I don't work your way and don't want to.

I hope Falcon continues on the path it is on and keeps building on the functionality and development making improvements on the areas where its strongest.

Falcon as a bloated everything monster mothership everything thing plugin, I hope not.

And yet right in UVI's website one of the very first things they have to say about Falcon is.

"Advanced sample engines with time-stretching, pitch-shifting, slicing, and granular processing"

https://www.uvi.net/falcon

You might be shocked to know that's all sample based, not sure why you seem to think including a way to make samples for use in its sample engines is a bridge to far

Awesome you don't work that way, but many people do

Yeah that building on the sample based engines that are a major part of what it is, by having the ability to you know actually sample
Falcon as a bloated everything monster mothership everything thing plugin, I hope not.
The good news is by adding the ability to sample you are just enhancing what is already there and it would be easily ignored by the people who have no use for it

Let's be honest however Falcon already is a bloated mothership everything plugin, adding a tool to actually make samples doesn't change that or make it worse

keep on your soapbox. good for you. I'm moving on and said my peace.

See you. Perhaps next time you might try to understand the "synth" you are describing and purportedly using.

FYI, the overwhelming majority of sound collections that UVI develops and sells are sample libraries of vintage synths (as well as a few orchestral and world instrument sample libraries). Moreover, almost none of these sample libraries take advantage of Falcon's powerful synthesis engines. Falcon is basically a dumb sample player for the sampled synth sounds that are UVI's stock in trade, i.e., the products that actually keep them in business.

The few Falcon-specific patch collections that rely exclusively on Falcon's synth engine, while nicely programmed, sound cold and sterile for the most part, no different from something like Avenger. Omnisphere is easier to use and sounds better, IMO.

Same. I may be way off base but I would guess anyone trying to find a way to reverse engineer the monolithic UFS file format, which they presumably haven’t openly documented in order to protect their samples, isn’t going to be doing it with UVI’s blessing.

Are you safe?

Off Topic iLok question:

I replaced the mother board in my Macbook Air years ago. So I can't deactivate the computer from the authorized computer list.

In the iLok app Three computers appear. Two with the name "Brian's MacBook Air" the first has (3) activations and the other (2) activations.

The third listing is "Power PC new motherboard" with (5) five which sounds like the "real one". -and sounds to me like something I would do in actually Re-naming the computer.

I only have UVI stuff in iLOk and certainly the folks at UVI have been understanding in all things concerning activations.

I'm getting a new Mac Mini soon.
Should I bother trying to de-activate? Deactivate the suspicious ones? Not worry about it?

KVR is not the airport no need to announce your departure

And sorry thinking a plugin so heavily based on samples, made by a company that wants you buy hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of new sample libraries they sell for their "synth" should also include anyway to actually make samples is somehow a bridge to far for you

You're not under any threat to deactivate them all, then activate the ones that currently you own. This will let you know which activation is the old motherboard since you won't be able to deactivate it, then you can write to iLok and/or UVI and get it sorted.

Does anyone know the best way to do multiband editing? I wanna create a sound with low, mid, high and process it differently.

You would have to duplicate the layer twice, then insert LP/BP/HP EQs for each of the layers and take it from there (with further FX inserted one layer level). But that's not so practical really...
