Balanced/Unbalanced Line Out Kit
Add a balanced and/or unbalanced line out to your amp. Takes a sample of the speaker output, knocks it down, puts it into a pot and then a transformer. From there, it connects to a standard XLR connector. The input to the transformer is an unbalanced signal that may be taken to a standard 1/4" panel jack. Kit includes XLR and 1/4" jack, pot, knob, resistors, and wire.

of course you're not going to mod a new amp unless you're insane like me but weber does sell a kit for a line out on an amp that is pretty easy to do. https://taweber.powweb.com/store/modkits.htm#balun (check out the quote, not just any line out)

Would you risk using something like this?

http://www.ratvalveamps.com/dummy-load
The TH30 wattage is lower than the max load this dummy box takes & to be extra safe I could drop the TH30 down to 15watt. If the lineout sounds crap, I could just use it to take the load & go preamp via FX send - interface - DAW with cab impulses.

My "next amp" was a Line 6 DT25 head
I took a chance on this strange hybrid technology (all tube pre and power amp with a modeling front-end) and I'm almost in disbelief at how boutique-like this amp feels and sounds. It doesn't have that 2-dimensional, lifeless and generic tone that I hear from other "modelers". This thing is honestly f*cking brilliant!
I might have splurged for the DT50 but the 25 sounded better to me and I don't need the extra watts or headroom. If you're at all interested...just go play one and see what I mean.
Of course, this meant I had to buy a POD HD500 I wasn't planning on, so now I'm trying to wrap my head around all the wacky possibilities

Interesting! I don't like the sound of the DT50 so I didn't give the 25 a chance, now you've got me rethinking that.blueman wrote:This thing is honestly f*cking brilliant!I might have splurged for the DT50 but the 25 sounded better to me and I don't need the extra watts or headroom.
Of course, I'll end up getting the thing and dialing in the one tone I dial into every amp.

there's only one tone I dont have yet...I dont have a combo with a spring reverb so I can kick the amp and scare the crap out of everyone in the roomUncle E wrote:Interesting! Well, the HD500 does add a great deal of functionality to the "DT" series amps and the included M13 effects are wicked cool
This explains and demonstrates the possibilities of what Line 6 calls the "Dream Rig". It's a long watch tho...

I've been sans amp (Though not sansamp) for a pretty long time, but I just found out about the Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 18. I'm in
I might get the combo, but I think I could save a few bucks and just get the head and use the recording out. Anyone with direct experience with these amps?

No experience with the Tubemeister but I'm considering getting one. You might want to wait until June/Julyish for the 36w version. Its still very compact for a 3 channel amp & comes with all the powersoak redbox options, plus it includes midi switching.zerocrossing wrote:I've been sans amp (Though not sansamp) for a pretty long time, but I just found out about the Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 18. Not too sure I can wait that long for a new amp myself....but I'll try.
