I've got to try to post my clips near the top of the page next time! :) Seriously, thanks for the kind words, I really do enjoy using these and I'm glad to show the diversity of some of these Xpansion Tanks. I REALLY had to try hard not to put in some evolving, weird, awesome sound from Cinematik - since I really love those!

I will try to put any I can out there for you guys, and it is obviously encouraged at least a bit by my employer... within reason, of course, as I do have other responsibilities ;)

Post

I am sorry- but what other responsibility is greater than continually posting on this group buy- hahahaha

LOL thanks for that. Actually, I'd love to just churn out audio demos. OK OK, and post here. ;)

You could get Cinematik Collection and OmniSynth 2 and have most of what you'd need for an inexpensive orchestra... but really you should get Miroslav Philharmonik! That's the one to have for that. Get both from www.esoundz.com ;)

Some of the Beach Boy vocals done up quickly, starts "in the manner of the church" (a capella - I have to try to brush up on the true Italian meanings seeing that our HQ is in Italy) then in a mix then back to a cappella. I've added bass from the Bass tank, organ from the Vintage Keys, and a drum loop from the Vintage Rock loops for the midsection "mix": http://storage.tinytoaster.com/STVoxBoys.mp3

No external processing, just a touch of reverb to the drums since they just sounded wicked dry and I normally wouldn't do it to the whole set but it doesn't sound bad at all, used the reverb child preset for the vox and I detuned one line a touch though they really were thick enough (I'd probably do only two lines instead of the three and added fourth high note for a bit if I did it again). Bass is as-is, it was the Hofner Amp bass and the organ is just the B3 Ticky child preset.

Edit - and nothing quantized so there's a bit of loosey-goosey with the performance.

Peter- see- you did it- I listened to your demo- and decided to go for it and pickup Cinematik- downloading it now.
Now I wait for a demo of the vocal pack (or maybe will be lured in by something else). I have one pick left now (until we get to 5 for 1).
FYI- do you know how hard it is to be patient and not just choose all 4 packs at once- I think this will help me not have any remorse (of course I could just buy another license and get a slew more choices). MUST RESIST!

[EDIT] Just listened to your second sample- OK- the bait is in and i am swimming around- not sure if I am ready to bite. Is there some more variety in the vocal pack?

Peter, thanks for the Vocal demo! I've been trying to narrow down what I want as there's so many choices, and all the user demos have been great in helping me make a decision.

Speaking of, hey Mister DJ (or anyone out there), I'd like to put in my request for World Instruments and Hip Hop. :)

Squids wrote:Hey Guys, here's a nice bonus. If any of you choose any of the following Multisamples titles (note, not the loop/groove titles of similar names):

Cinematik Collection
Hip Hop Instruments
World Instruments

Then I have some extra "child" patches for ya. Now, to explain what that is... each sound has a "parent" sound which has the main (sometimes raw/dry) samples and then it has variations (often processed with effects or synthesis) called child presets. These child presets have the extension .stip at the end and they reside right next to the parent sounds (which are the .stw, .sti and .sth files of that patch name... the .stw being the file that has the actual samples in it).

Anyway, if that simple tech talk doesn't intimidate you (which we hope it doesn't) then here are some .stip (child) patches to drop into the folders of the sounds of that title. You think you can do it? If not you'll be able to just replace the whole folder of that title when IK updates it. But why not give this a try?

Alight, so again the STIP files need to be put along side the same patch name's STW, STI and STH files. They are in their sub folders.

In the case of Cinematik there is no subfolder so you just throw all the STIPs in with the rest of the STW etc. files and you're good to go! Restart or hit "relist" on SampleTank and they'll show up under the little black arrow next to the sound in the browser. Some good ones in there.

As far as Hip Hop Instruments and World Instruments, the child patches are just basic "wet" versions. But you might appreciate that and it is a freebie here so... what you would need to do is put the STIPs of the sub folder in the zip I am about to let you download into the corresponding sub folder of the sounds you have (from that title).

For example: If you have World Instruments you would put the .STIP files of the Ethnic Stringed folder into the folder of the same name in your World Instruments so they are next to the .STW, .STI and .STH files of that subfolder in World Instruments. Do the same for the Ethnic Wind and Ethnic Percussion subfolders.

Okay and if you have Hip Hop Instruments you would do the same for the subfolders (put the stips of the corresponding folders into the one you have)

Analog Elements
Hip Hop Drums
Hip Hop Guitars
Hip Hop Synth Sounds
Orchestral Elements

-----
Go ahead and try it if you have those titles (it won't work at all if you didn't buy those titles btw).

Here's the temporary link. This is totally optional: http://www.esoundz.com/tmp/ST_Child_Preset_Update.zip

I'll leave it up there for a few days. Enjoy!
Sorry, I requoted your entire post- I spent tons of time trying to find this post. I am losing it- where on earth are the main instrument files located on a Mac- I can't seem to find them (I do a spotlight search and only find the files either in the ST zip file- or the original instrument zip file). I do want to use the Cinematik ones but can't figure our where to paste them into.

Thanks

OK, I am lovin' Cinematik. I figured out where to add Squids updated patches and am enjoying them a heck of alot. I am still in the C's and find that a lot of these sounds are what I would call your atmospheric (dare I saw a bit Omnispheric) instruments. I don't want to type anymore- going back to playing- I will update my thoughts later- but so far- I am very glad I got Cinematik (with Squids updated patches).

[update]
finally made it to the M's- wow- I highly recommend this pack for anyone that would like to take a Motif/Fantom/(fill in a big boy hardware workstation) and put it in a nice and useable software version. There is such a diverse selection of sounds- I found vocal stuff I wasn't expecting- brass - atmtmospheric and orchestral pads- a piano (didn't expect that)- just a smattering of workstation sounds - and what is even better- they are so layerable with eachother- you will go crazy making combis.

I am enthusiastically impressed at the creative potential in this pack- and haven't even made it to the end.

[reupdate]
finally made it to the end- there is also percussion- winds- just a bunch of everything (no guitar/bass/normal drums). The general midi pack may be a good combo with this one to get a complete set in only 2 packs

NOW- this pack isn't perfect- there are a bunch of instruments that are so low- I almost thought they were just turned off. Some you could fix but others are not fixable- Squids can you go through and update those ones that are obviously way too low- I am not sure if a child preset can fix them. I could provide a list if need be.
OK- I am no down with my comments- for now.

the vocal pack is very interesting to me, because at least from the demo on IK's site, it sounds close to the music from the game, Ar Tonelico 1 and 2, and the music from this series is fantastic (im a game audio fanatic :P )

it would be nice to see more demos from this pack.

Interesting and creative! I particularly like the bits at the end. Thanks for sharing android!

I love hearing you guys share the music and bits.

Peter that's some cool stuff. Man, if I wasn't slammed right now doing this I'd do a full Beach Boys thing. That's Roger Manning vox there and if anyone has heard Jellyfish's Spilt Milk he can do a really good Brian Wilson. Anyway, to make it sound real you have to either conceal it into a track or be creative with some different parts and possibly envelope attack. I did the Vocal Collection demo a while ago and it has a little bit of what I am talking about. A lot of fun to work with vocal samples actually. One of these days I am going to do an all vocal stretch library... Oh baby!

By the way, Oh Baby was sung by a friend of mine who sounds a lot like SEAL. Not so much there but in other stuff he's done he really has that kind of voice. I just did a session with him demoing a song FOR Seal about 4-5 months ago. I like working with vocalists that can get different character sounds like that. There is one guy we sampled that really nails a Roger Hodgson and Jon Anderson sound. It's an extra bonus on top of the generic oohs and aahs you might normally expect.

Thanks for the demos Peter! Keep it up if you're getting paid to spend the time doing it!

Thank you also androidlove and others too!

Ha ha! I should think so. I believe Peter just used a single vocal preset. There are 295 different ones., plus 295 variations of those (probably with reverb added, I imagine).
Somewhere in the background zedd
