Razmo wrote:Did anybody notice, that after Waldorf put up their new site, that OS 1.13 for the Pulse 2 is gone?

There is only version 1.11 now, which I find a little strange...

Also.. I reported a bug in OS 1.13 some time ago about the BPM setting being off by one or two... if you set the BPM to 120 on the Pulse 2, and also 120 on your sequencer, they don't match up if the Pulse2 is not recieving MIDI clock.

Now I know that by not MIDI clock sync'ing, you'd eventualy get out of sync at some point, but this is different because you can get them to run at the same BPM by lowering the BPM in the pulse2 by 1 or 2. The difference in speed is hearable from the moment you start playback on both.

I did not recieve an answer from Waldorf on this, and still have not.
OS 1.13 is back here:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/pulse2downloads

New one is in progress...

Waldorf is also preparing for Musikmesse that will start on Wednesday.

besides that there is work at the 64-bit updates for the plugins and there are new products.

A lot happening at Waldorf (also for us beta testers...) now so delays at support could happen.

Has anyone managed to get the Synthmania Pulse 2 Editor working using just one track in their DAW?

I've not been able to do it in Live or Studio One. I've exchanged a few emails with the developer but he only has Cubase and can't seem to help me diagnose the problem.

The problem seems to be that it's not passing MIDI thru. (In fact in Studio One, the Midi Thru menu is greyed out)

The routing/set up is surely correct, as the editor is made with the CTRL engine, and I use other CTRL editors which are set up in the same way, and they work fine. (i.e. select MIDI input/outputdesired channel, then select Plugin Host -> Output

Here's an example of the set up which should work as the same setup works for other CTRL editors I use (the external effects plugin after the editor VST lets me route the audio back to the track rather than having to use a second track to receive the audio):

Image

Needless to say all required MIDI ports have been freed up as per normal use of editors in Windows which typically doesn't allow MIDI port sharing.

The actual editor in terms of functionality works great with full bi-directional control at all times, but it just refuses to pass thru MIDI note data for some reason.

The workaround is make another track with an external instrument device on it and send note data and route audio back in with that, but having 1 track is better than having to use 2, and it should work with 1 since my other CTRL based editors do so no problem.

Don't have that editor yet but will maybe buy it soon.
I got the Synnys editor that is done with Max4Live.

Did you activate MIDI thru inside the Pulse 2?
This is done with "MIDI THRU" in the Global menu.

Do you have Pulse 2 OS 1.13 or an earlier one?

Yes I tried MIDI Thru on the Pulse 2 but it didn't make any difference.

I have OS 1.13.

I really like the editor, especially the fact that I don't need to record enable the track for the editor to stay active, (unlike most hardware editors), but this issue is annoying.

You say that you have freed up the midi ports in Windows, it is the DAW/Host that needs to free up the midi ports for the VST editor, I also replied again (x2 now) at gearslutz but then noticed this...

It's anything that is using the ports in Windows, but in this case it's the DAW so I need to free them from its control. It's the same procedure with all my hardware editors, so i'm used to doing it. (Moog Sub Phatty VST editor, Analog Four M4L editor, Oberheim Matrix 1000 editor (which are CTRL and MidiQuest 11 editors) and Pulse 2 M4L editor)

Right. With my Sub Phatty VST editor I must make sure that I turn off the Sub Phatty MIDI in and out ports in Live's pref menu. Then it works fine... except that Live won't send MIDI clock then so I have to create a patch based on the bpm (if there are synced lfos) I want and create a preset and then kill the editor VST and go into Live's menu and turn the midi ports back on. PITA, but it's better than no editor at all.

Yes the (USB) MIDI ports to the Sub Phatty must be turned off to use the editor, but you can use DIN MIDI to send note and time clock data to the SubP. Just add an external instrument device to the track and set it to a DIN MIDI port that you will have to connect to your Sub Phatty, then set your audio input. (As below)

Problem solved for you. :)

Brilliant! That's a total "why didn't I think of that " solution.

Btw, I just ordered the Pulse 2 as part of the Pulse 2-Rocket bundle at Jrrshop. With the forum discount it's an insanely good deal. I'm looking forward to processing the Rocket with the Pulse 2 for extra sonic mayhem.

Nice, they will be a great addition to your Sub Phatty to help cover most areas of instrumentation OTB. The paraphonic ability of the Pulse 2 is actually pretty good for big chords and lush pads of up to 8 voices which will be nice addition if you don't have any polyphonic synths. I've made some patches that sound almost exactly the same as pads from my Oberheim Matrix 1000 which I am really happy about. 8) You just need to watch out for the limitations of paraphony, but I find in practice it sound fine with quite a lot of stuff I play.

Lovely demo of the Pulse 2: (great lead at 2:20)

Hi Pulse people,

Had my Pulse for a few months now.. this thing is Beast such a great range of sounds! I've been having success at making a DnB themed sound demo drums and all (still in the works).
Good thing is I can now focus on it 100% as I have finished my Max for live Editor:

Pulse 2 Live V1

Its a FREE download it here: http://bit-wise.co.uk/

Have fun

Had the pulse 2 for a little while now. Getting annoyed with some of the bugs.

1. some strange bug with the attack of a filtered sound. for example it loses the "pluck" (attack) of a plucky sound when the filter fully closed. The attack comes back when slightly open. Have seen other report this too.

2. That crazy bug where the ARP kicks in for no reason! Waldorf confirmed this and said it is fixed in a new update. They told me "a couple of days", then, "several days" and that was over 2 weeks ago.

I was actually thinking about sending it back.

I got the Beta of the new update. It will come for sure.
They wanted to release at Musikmesse but i think the developer decided the re-check a few things. Besides that the developer was at Musikmesse (from around Tuesday to Saturday) so he did not really have much time to work on this during the wole last week.

I just found your original report here and will try if i could reproduce this in Reaper (or hopefully not reproduce it...) in OS 1.14.

Currently got a lot of work with testing the 64-bit updtaes for Largo and PPG Wave 3.V here...
Besides that and the Pulse 2 update they are also working on finalizing the Streichfett String synth so you see a lot is happening at the moment.

Is it just bug fixes?
