Don't all MOTU interfaces already have this? If someone is on a desktop system, I imagine the MOTU 24I/O must be the lowest priced option around.thetechnobear wrote:I think this area could 'explode' when the Expert Sytems ES-8 is released.
I've been holding back on Eurorack since integrating has required a DC couple audio interface (for audio rate cv integration, i.e. non midi).

I'm pretty sure "cooking with water" implies blandness, and "cooking with gas" is supposed to mean high-powered, effective. So they're almost opposites.nix808 wrote:Urs,

If a german say "He just cooking with water too" he simply means that it's nothing special. An equivalent saying in english is "He puts his pants on one leg at a time." (like everybody else).
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

yeah, Im on iMac and MBP, so the PCI option is out... but perhaps I should search for other DC coupled interfaces, with more inputs and outputs at a reasonable price.Uncle E wrote:Don't all MOTU interfaces already have this? ES8 spec'd for 16 out, 12 in... any suggestions?
(I could generally do with more IO than I have currently anyway

Hehe, yes, I mean filter-less in the sense of classic SVF/Ladder filters. I have a good number of lowpass gates with different character and I use a few filters for EQing, sine oscillator and distortion, but not so much for your typical filter sweeps.Stollmeister wrote:When you say filter-less, do you also rule out low pass gates? My Malekko Borg is a capable filter, but I use it as a low pass gate almost exclusively.

"Nothing special" would be too drastic - because I think it's pretty special. What I mean is, they are not magically solving the whole system as one single zero delay feedback matrix. If you route an oscillator into the inverter (Signal Tool) and back for PWM, there's a sample or two of delay, i.e. the signal flip-flops. Which an analogue wouldn't do in this case.murnau wrote:If a german say "He just cooking with water too" he simply means that it's nothing special. Also as a workaround, for those with Ableton Live and a mobile device, Link should work quite nicely especially with Korg SyncKontrol. I've been using this with the Korg Vocla lines and TE PO series (yeah I know its no Eurorack, but it is my gateway drug).Uncle E wrote:Don't all MOTU interfaces already have this? I have the old Korgasmatron (version 1), and while I haven't compared them directly, the Softube one certainly behaves as expected. I'm also getting a uFold, so I may check this out.e-modic wrote:Did someone compare it to the original gear? How near does Modular get to the Original modules?
Afaik Rubicon is a super popular oscillator, so it won't be long until we'll have shoot outs on Youtube.

Oh yes, sorry my fault. Didn't meant this way.Urs wrote:"Nothing special" would be too drastic - because I think it's pretty special. I keep thinking that this is an absolutely brilliant partnership. This will expose quite a few purely software users with what their future potential hardware will be (provided their significant others don't leave them first).

In the Modular forum over at Muffwiggler they share a great thread with many links for beginners with vids/books/texts/experiment: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44345JohnD71651 wrote:Anyway, please post links to tutorials and tips and tricks!

Thanks for the info, I have put a support request in so lets see what they come up with. It's a totally standard Mac so I'm a bit surprised to see an issue, there is another person on GearSlutz with the same issue. Possibly the same machine.thetechnobear wrote:No graphical issues here that I've noticed - Ive been using it a lot on my iMac and MBP with Live 9.6.1 64 bitBobDog wrote: Basically the UI seems to stall, if a grab a knob and turn it the knob will stick for 0.5 second.
This also effects the Daw (tried Cubase, Live and Logic) so the graphics in the DAW will also stall, for example the playhead.
This happens just loading a patch into modular not even playing any sound, every so often everything stalls, makes it totally unusable.
This is on a MacPro 12 core trashcan, 10.11.5
I did also try it a bit on with Cubase/Logic (iMac only) ,again no issue, but these were only for an half and hour or so.
I think for v1 is a solid start, sure things can be improved... but if its successful I'm sure they will.
Cheers
Andy
