That's awesome. A really nice thing would be the addition of a way to route the OSC's/filters to different FX's. So a more flexible routing. Other than that; i really can't think of anything else. Icarus has one huge downside for me — it’s way too addictive. I sit down with one idea in mind, and next thing I know, I’m deep into sound design doing something completely different than what I planned. Total rabbit hole.
The second downside? It just sounds too good. Like, in a mix, it straight-up crushes anything else — even high-end hardware synths. Nothing touches it.
Kinda sad they’re not gonna keep expanding this beauty of a synth. Mad respect to Markus — you really built something special with this one.
We released a new expansion recently. It is available here:
https://www.tone2.com/galactic.html
I also received the request from a customer that more highpass and bandpass filter types should be included for Icarus 3.2. The new filter types are already working
How do you think we should expand the synth for the future?
Available now: Tone2 Icarus v3.2

This is already supported:
1) Set Osc1 pan to -100 (left)
2) Set Osc2 pan to +100 (right)
3) Open the effects tab. Click on the 'Routing' selector in the lower right. Select 'Routing Left:FX1Right:FX2'
4) In the FX1 slot select the effect you want to have for Osc1 and in FX2 slot select the effect you want to have for Osc2
Now everything that is panned left goes through FX1 and what is right goes to FX2

This above is a really cool tip @Markus! Thanks for sharing.
I think that proves once again how powerful and huge Icarus already is. It has alot of quirks and features most people don't even explore. I think before asking a bunch of new things, people should get to know & learn better Icarus
it's already a mighty synth full of stuff.

Icarus3 has tons of (sometimes well-hidden) features. It seems that many users do not seem to be aware of them.
I think I should do some more videos that explain some tricks and features.

+1 on a special Tone2 Dev Icarus quirks and tips video!
I keep finding hidden tricks and quirks myself the more I use it, but it's so deep that it would be really nice to hear Markus himself showing his favorites ones

+1 ... I don't have this yet, but it has moved onto my "2-get" list, as I am seeing more and more really appealing features/functions, that fit my way of working with sound creation/manipulation. Good stuff!Neon Breath wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 1:29 am +1 on a special Tone2 Dev Icarus quirks and tips video!

Talking about quirks... Not sure why I never tried that before, but I just discovered that you can change the smoothness interpolation of the wavetable scanning/traveling with the Fade parameter. I was trying to get a rougher and grittier wavetable interpolation such as the Virus TI and just found out that setting. Combined with the analog or the spirit morph mode, you get some really tasty digital lofi goodness
Proof Icarus is full of 'hidden' (not so hidden here in this case, but still) tricks, this thing is so deep I keep finding cool stuff while exploring.

So true. I've also been enjoying harsher / jittery wavetable interpolation and Icarus seems to be great for that. The additive play modes can be interesting with it too!

I love how you have both oscillator and filter resampling options. Keytrack the resampling filter, and you have a new lofi synth! I also appreciate the fact that Icarus's wavetable editor has a stepped brush, just like in Serum, for making SCC or PC-Engine-esque bitwave tones! What's even cool is that you can FM and amplitude modulate stepped sine waves to create cooler 8Bit tones like in the Liven 8Bit Warps! Nemesis allows for that, too.sunthief01 wrote: Sat Jul 26, 2025 7:25 am So true. I've also been enjoying harsher / jittery wavetable interpolation and Icarus seems to be great for that. And there is an option in the wavetable editor to make the waves have bell-like spectra, something I wish would be a real-time transformation (and quantize for oscillators as well).

I'll have to try all of that! I have barely touched the resampling filter.
The bell spectra seems to sound similar to the additive play modes "add bell" which does give real time processing and control. But maybe the option in the editor has something else you are looking for ?
This synth is immense and I have been reaching for it over many of my other go-tos since learning it last year.

Surely I am doing something wrong.
I haven't worked on my PC in awhile, mostly working on my Mac.
But when I try to open on my PC, mac projects using Icarus 3 (or any of the new updates for tone2 to be precise) the pc is telling me they are not found..
WHAT!!!

Apple Silicon Native 15.5
Cubendo 14.
