To, (Ahem) answer the actual question:
> So what is required to use a breathcontrol? Can one connect one directly to the PC or?
Looking at the link I provided (you did, right?) it plugs in as a MIDI controller
but you're controlling only a single CC.
Having looked at this more, I may just camp out on eBay waiting for a WX5 at a survivable
price. 'course then I'd have to learn Sax fingering...

Indeed, the link shows exactly what i was talking about. yamaha breath controller headset which is designed with a plug for yamaha vl70m or ex5 and a converter box by midi solutions to make that work with plain midi jacks.

it contains a breath sensor you blow into to control midi cc#2.

you could use a wx5 and filter out notes and play the notes from a keyboard while blowing into the wx5. youd probably wanna do that where noone can see you unless you arent distracted by laughter.

i dont think the midi solutions box costs very much tho.
I'm using the BC2 on my original DX7. It works fine. The DX7 doesn't play MIDI velocities over 110, but other than that, it's easier to learn than a saxaphone. They have to be going cheap these days, I even have a spare kicking around that I never use.

I think we need something creative to do while we're waiting...erm...

... an anagram of Soultrane is Le Anus Rot (good name for a French punk band).
Except that you can't say "le anus", because anus begins with a vowel. However, SoulTrane must also be an anagram for "l'anus rote", which means "the anus burps", which is maybe even cooler!
Two wrongs don't make it right. I mean rote. :hihi:

No, a couple times already he disappeared long enough to get everybody freaking out. Not gonna happen again, nope, no talk of terrorist kidnapping him or anything. Just gonna think happy thoughts and know that Zio is gonna make MilesTone and SoulTrane (?) perfect.

I'd love to see a sax quartet. Then start working on a string quartet... ;-) Oh, just kiddin'

Maybe he figured it wasn't worth the effort given the anti Synthedit bias around here.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

Look, do you guys want Guido engaged in chit-chat on KvR, or cuttin' code?

Telling us here on kvr about the code he's writing, and when it will be done....

There's a wind controller users list at the y-groups place that has picked up on the sax model mp3. There's a lot of interest from that crowd in getting their hands on a beta VST.
