Gotta start with a demo.
I do, but it is hard to check my mail when I'm asleep. :D

Just bought and used it on a vocal-The reverb of my dreams man.
Awesome work whoever developed this reverb-Pure class.

Just bought it here too. Funny, I would've gotten this a while back but Aalto had just come out for PC. Cool that you and Randy are in the same city and have helped/supported each other. Here's to hoping you guys do more work together in the future, in any capacity (raises virtual glass full of virtual Star Trek-looking liquid). Now I'm off to put reverb on...everything.

Well, the 224 and PCM70 Concert Hall algorithms are beautiful. Give them a try if you get a chance - they sound very nice. Fairly sparse initial echo density, but a very open sound.

Oh yes.. I remember in 1993 that was our main reverb for vocal in studio. PCM 70 V1 and V2 was there. Concert Hall, that was the main reverb, I remember. Very smooth and rich. One year later 480L came and changed the game.
Just mixed one song, and ValhallaRoom is now vocal reverb in my studio. Really sounds great on main vocal.

I keep trying other reverbs but none compare... Valhallaroom is my goto verb!

What 480L algorithms did you tend to use? RandomHall, or any others?

Excellent!

It was Hall algo. mostly. But I always tend to use 300 Hall algo. for voice, more smooth and that was something special.

From looking at the Hall code in both the 480L and LXP15, they seem to be fairly similar. I haven't heard the 480L in person, though (I own an LXP15 and PCM70), so I should really do so before I evaluate things.

IIRC, the Lexicon 300 had somewhat more capable processing units than the 480L. The 480L has more cycles when the whole unit is cranking on one algorithm, but I think there was only 1 algorithm that did this (was it called the Surround cart?). For the general purpose algorithms, the 300 had a few more cycles to throw at things. So the Hall may have had more taps in the Shape/Spread section, or might have modulated things where the 480L didn't, or more refined filters or the like.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info. I knew something was special about 300..

Just picked up my copy yesterday. Love the way this thing sounds! I compared it to numerous other plugs and this just sounded so good and the price is just right. I also can't wait to get the re sizable GUI update that will be very nice.

Customer service was quick and great. Overall very happy customer. Can't wait to get this thing into more of my productions.

Also can't wait to test further plugs from ValhallaDSP.

ValhallaRoom Version 1.0.8, beta 5 is available for testing. I've sent links to the beta testers who have signed up so far. Send me a PM or email if you want to test the latest. Man, I have typed that exact phrase a lot lately.

The latest changes:

- New OSX installer build, with changes to file permissions and ownership. This seems to have fixed the bug on my system (I had to create a new OSX account to see the bug, as it didn't show up for my accounts).

- Slight modification of Early/Late Cross. A user reported huge CPU spikes in XP when these were set to 0.0. So I changed things internally so the control, when at 0.0, actually generates internal values of 0.001. Cheating, yes, but you won't hear the difference, and if it prevents denormalization, then I say cheat away!

- More Den presets.

Feedback greatly appreciated. If this works (knock on wood), I want to release this to all ValhallaRoom users, so I can get back to work finishing up ÜberMod.

Very nice. I'm looking forward to checking out the presets. I always end of tweaking to no end, but I love preset surfing for inspiration and approaches that I wouldn't take on my own.

Post

Sean, is there any ETA wen the new version with the new modes might be available to try to everyone ?
