according to Andy's flow chart it should be the same, assuming Drive is simply a 12dB boost in gain prior to the filters, and 12dB cut afterwards, it is placed in exactly the same place as the in and out gain controls:
pre gain -> + 12 dB drive -> high pass -> low pass -> -12 dB drive compensation -> post
pre gain -> + 12 dB drive -> high pass -> low pass -> -12 dB drive compensation -> post

Awesome Andy, I think this plugin is going to be just as awesome as a saturation creator as it is a fantastic filter.andy_cytomic wrote:The MS20 rev2 is very different to a Moog Ladder in sound. Each circuit sounds completely different and has completely different drive. In The Drop you'll be able to flick through all the different circuits and easily compare the tone of the drive and pick the one you prefer.Mogular wrote: Do you think the sound of the saturation will change with the other filter models?
I really like the saturation that comes out of the glue with the peak clip on and the makeup gain turned up to drive it, did you mean for it to work like that?

The Drop v0.9.5 is ready for trial, and you get another two weeks of use
http://www.cytomic.com/drop-public-beta-ready
* improved frequency response for non-oversampled filters running at 44.1 khz or 48 khz
* added alt + click (mac) and ctrl + click (win) resetting, shift + drag for fine movement
* fixed mouse wheel on win, and added support for shift + wheel for fine movement
* added double clicking on knob markings to snap to that value (double clicking in the centre of the knob still edits the text value)
* halved the linear phase oversampling latency and improved its performance
* added direct access and display of oversampling settings to the top bar

All fixed nowmetal wrote:There's a bug when using the scroll-wheel - no matter what way you roll your wheel, the value of a knob increases. (windows 32 bit version)
Great filter!

This has been added, the shift key can be depressed and released while dragging for fine movement, and I added a shift key modifier for the mouse wheel as well.contrast wrote:Speaking of the UI it would also be nice if alt would toggle between fine and coarse resolutions even while dragging, rather than selecting a state at the time of the click.

Just tried it. First two times I loaded it up it crashed latest S1 Pro. Than when I finally managed to open it, GUI locked up and couldn't do anything. Than I removed the plug-in from mixer channel, reloaded it again and it worked, but after 5 secs it locked up again. Than I repeated the step before and it worked fine. But another problem popped out, whole sound clicked and it moved entire synth sound to the right side, I turned The Drop off and on and it came back to center again. Than it finally worked fine, for a couple of minutes and it crashed S1 Pro. CPU is still a bit intensive @ 2x OS, goes from 16% to 26% on i7 2600 with 8gb RAM.

I've updated the non-oversampled version when running at 44.1 khz or 48 khz to match much more closely the analog response now, so please try this test again. If you want a transparent result then set the resonance to 15% as this is the flattest setting.Mogular wrote:Actually if you run some white noise through the filter you will easily hear that there is removal of the high end when you bypass.ttoz wrote: I compared the quality to autofilter which i always liked.. there IS no comparison. this drop thing is blowing me away but i still call that too hungry.. mind you it's a beta who says Andy won't severely optimize it?
Plus one thing i noticed, there is NO change to the sound WHATSOEVER with the filter fully open and resonance down..

Thanks for the bug report! I've not done any testing with Studio One for some time. Can you please email me which operating system (and version) you are running on? www.cytomic.com/contactHcDoom wrote:Just tried it. First two times I loaded it up it crashed latest S1 Pro. Well, I've just tried the newest version of the Drop(released today) in Studio One Version 2 64bit with no problems (Studio One version 2.07). Although I have to say, that I thought the CPU use was up on the previous version, but that may be my imagination and the fact that Studio One reporting of CPU use is wacked out.
Still, for such a gorgeous sound, I'll put up with heavy CPU and just bounce down on a track use basis.
I presume that the incorporation of the other filter types is a long way off in the future ?
Startling sound Andy

Just to sound the alarm: With latest build 1.06 Mulab has crashed a couple of times. That's just about as much info as i can provide im afraid. It's been just about a clear project where i used two of them for making drumsounds by self oscillating the filter so to speak.
Is there any stability tests i can do?
By the way.. the drums sound GREAT
Edit: A couple of times has been when i've removed drop or by closing Mulab.

Thanks for the heads up. I've rolled the web page to be v0.9.4 while I look into it. I have a repeatable crash on unloading The Drop from Reaper v4.261 32bit on Win 7 64bit, which is good news since it means I am close to finding the cause.Crackbaby wrote:Just to sound the alarm: With latest build 1.06 Mulab has crashed a couple of times.

found a weird bug, on osx 10.8.2 Live 8.3.3
when oversampling engaged and I turn the power off (cytomic logo) the drop makes a weird distorted noise, and basically the plugin is still on because the noise can be filtered and modulated

I love music but more than that, I love making it

I tried it quickly in Live8.4 b8.
If I make a live set with Drop in it. Play the set. Then choose from menu File/Reopen live set, Live crashes.
So I have Drop in a live set, then decide to open another live set and Live crashes. (it seems this same thing is happening in Reaper and is the reason why 0.9.5 links were removed)
