I am afraid of that, so I would rather go into safe mode.
I noticed that you can find the old zip files if you go to the last page that is archived by
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
for some reason older versions of the same page do not have acess to the .zip files... if the vst was free it might still be up there.

This laptop came with symantec norton stuff pre-installed which was ok but it took up lots of both disk space and processing power, So when the trial thing ran out and up comes all the warnings telling me if i do not buy into it then i am doomed. So i had a look at what was available and Avast! looked good but it is also taxing and going off at files that i know are clean. Think i am going to get shut of Avast! also and stick with AVG Free or the avira one you mentioned spacedad. This isn't my audio machine but i still make music with it and demo plug-ins/applications on it. I really dislike the idea of paying out for a lot of software or subscriptions depending on the way the company phrases it which simply keeps a system 'safe' when there are freeware packages/tools which are just as effective. So is Avira lightweight and/or free? Im on Windows7 on this laptop and if its not a rip-off i may pay for it if it does what it is meant to well
Thanks for the info on Avast! both you two

I may have a copy of it, I am not sure but not on my current system... little backup files are hard to find sometimes. I think you would be the only person who has it then if it is gone.spacedad wrote:i've got all your old vst freeware,i even tried to buy uglymodsynth, but you just gave me a refund.

Perhaps it's not wise to say that but it's years since I am definitively done with resident antivirs.
But if you're out for some free solution you may have a look at AVZ4 which appears to be a free semi-official Kaspersky product:

Avast scanner is agressive and can throw up lots of false positives. It is always best to try removing Security products with the vendors special tools if they have one which most do. Norton has a removal tool for it's security products and so does Avast. It is always best to join official forums http://community.norton.com For Norton. That way you can get better help if you have any problems, also you can get free upgrade from Norton while you have a subscription, ie Norton 2011 internet security has been out over a week now in full release through the forum although it is only due in the shops this week. All those with a current 2010 license are entitled to a free upgrade. If you heven't uninstalled Avast properly you might get conflict issues with Norton that could effect your internet security. You should have used the official Avast uninstall tool. http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility before installing Norton.Dexrow synths wrote:avast seems like scareware, I bought norton and avast will not go away, maybe I can delete it in safemode. If you have used Norton on your computer, you need to use the Norton removal tool, seriously that is the only way you can uninstall Norton. If you run another security product like Avira when you still have the remnants of Avast or Norton on your computer you could end up with major problems. My advice is that you use the appropriate removal tools for any anti virus you have had and now have on your computer, then start again. Always best to run the tools a couple of times as well just to make sure they removed everything.NEKRO.MACHINE wrote:This laptop came with symantec norton stuff pre-installed which was ok but it took up lots of both disk space and processing power, So when the trial thing ran out and up comes all the warnings telling me if i do not buy into it then i am doomed.
